Slush
This drink is AMAZING! Words cannot even begin to describe how DELICIOUS this drink is!
I remember my grandma or mom always making this for a special dinner. I make it just because. I seriously don’t even need a reason to make this because I just love it so much! It so easy to make and it can last you a little while.
Slush
The best drink in the entire world and SO easy to make! Everyone will be asking you for the recipe!
Recipe type: Dessert
Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 4 cups sugar
- 46 oz. CAN pineapple juice
- 46 oz. CAN orange juice, I pour the orange juice into the empty pineapple juice can
- 4 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 liter 7-Up
Instructions
- Pour water and sugar into a LARGE bowl and stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add pineapple, orange and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Pour into large freezer safe Tupperware. I can get mine into 2 large tupperwares. Freeze until set.
- Using an ice cream scoop, scrape mixture to create slush. Once you have created the amount of slush you want to use, mix it with half and half proportions with 7-up.
- If I am only making this for my little family, I only scrape out enough for what I want to drink at the time then put the rest back in the freezer to use again later.
Enjoy!
**You can easily sub some of your favorite alcohol for the water to this before freezing to make it an alcoholic beverage if desired**

Rum should go well with this. And a little umbrella.
Tammy
I bet it would be awesome with some coconut rum
Sandy
I make this add a 5th of peach schnapps, it is really good before freezing.

Yum, we have an alcohol version of this adding vodka before you freeze it. It's pretty yummy too. :-)
monica
how much vodka would you add- the same amount as the water???
Zulema
Oh I live the new picture set up! Love step by step photos! Please keep this new style!
Kasey
My family has made a version very similar to this since I was just a little lady too. We make it pretty much the same but add some mashed up bananas. Yummy. One of my favorites.
Shelley
Yummy! My kids are gonna love this! Thanks for sharing!
mitchinmuskoka
if i made this with booze, how much would i put in?
also, why does it not freeze rock hard but scrape-able?
Chef in Training
I am not sure. I have never made this alcoholic before, but I am you could sub out as much of the water as you wanted with the alcoholic beverage you want. just subtract the amount of alcohol added from the amount of water required. It does freeze rock hard, at least you want it really frozen so that the "Slush" doesn't melt so quickly. You just use an ice cream scraper and scrape it off, as it gets a *little* more melted, it will become easier to scrape.

I also purée bananas to mix in before freezing.
Karen
Add a lot of Malibu rum and it makes an even bigger crowd pleaser

My mom and dad had a drink in Hawaii very similar to this. Pineapple juice, OJ, maraschino cherry juice and amaretto. It is out of this world!
Wendy H
Ooooooh this sounds good with cherry too! I think I will just put the liquor in the bottle and people can add their own if they want it.
Rachael
Sounds delish and just what this pregnant lady is craving-but would there be an alternative to all that sugar?
Esther
I also was wondering about the sugar have you tried without any sugar? Since the juice is sweet already.
Wendy
Could I just not freeze it? Would it turn out ok, I'm all right with it not being slushy. Thanks!
Patty
Yummy my mom made a alcoholic version of this a lot for the adults for get together it was always a hit
Molly

Here's another version that I used to make back in the good old days with alcohol : Boil 3 1/2 cups water with 1 cup sugar, measure out 2 cups of the boiling water and let cool with 4 green tea bags soaking in mixture. When cool, remove tea bags and mix water & tea combo together in a large freezable container with: 1 - 12 oz frozen lemonade concentrate, 1 - 12 oz orange juice frozen concentrate, 2 cups of your favorite brandy, gin or vodka, then Freeze. When ready to drink put 2 tablespoons of mixture in a glass and add Lemon sour or Squirt. Mixture will remain somewhat slushy as the alcohol will not freeze. Enjoy!

I can't see the whole recipe?? How much sugar water do you need and how do you make it?
Chef in Training
I am so sorry you were having trouble. I just updated the recipe. Will you let me know if you are able to view it now or if you are still having troubles? Thanks so much :)
linda

Kacker
Approximately how many servings does this make?
