Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

I LOVE beef stroganoff! The flavor is absolutely amazing. My mom’s slow cooker version is one of the best around. Not only is it super yummy, but I love the ease of throwing it in the crockpot and preparing the noodles when your ready to eat. This s a great meal for back to school time as well as fall. It will fill your home with the most delicious smell. With my littles going back to school, I absolutely LOVE having slow cooker meals ready to go.

This recipe would make a fabulous addition to your dinner rotation! Give it a try!

I just started a slow cooker board and this just went right on it! Have a great weekend, Nikki!

Love your receipts. But sometimes you don't mention how many it serves. Or the garnish you use to top it off.

Otherwise, thank you very much. I am always trying different ones and enjoy them

It's in the dairy section at the market (half milk and half cream) its a brand name.

Could you please tell me what half and half is.

    1. Julie

Half and half is half cream and half milk. You buy it in the dairy section. People use it in coffee..it's delicious.

I make a quick skillet beef stroganoff during the week, but this would be even better. My slow cooker is my hero. This sounds awesome, can't wait to try it!

  7. lou

i think if u used cram of musroom soup and a cup of milk instead of the half and half it would make it way little

I just put the sour cream and half and half init. Will it thicken up???

  9. Weston Barnes

    What is stew meat?

  10. Patti

1/2 cup beef broth seems like an awfully small amount for 2 pounds of stew beef. Is this the correct measurement?

    1. Yvonne Krautbauer

I'd double the recipe for sure for 8 people.

Trying this tonight. The smell in the house is making my mouth water. Can't wait till everyone gets home to try it. Thanks for posting!

Made this recipe, but it turned out watery. To thicken up, I added cream cheese. After that, it was good.

My sons, 2 and 5, are taking about this! My oldest just said, "Dad needs to hurry home from work or I'm going to eat his portion too. This is the best, best, best, best dinner ever! Thank you mom!" And my normally picky 2 year old is eating it without complaint. Thank you for this delicious recipe, it will definitely be going into our meal rotation.

Should you use fresh mushrooms or the kind in a jar/can ???? I'm thinking fresh, but would they add too much liquid as they cook?

  17. Mary

How many does this recipe serve. I notice others asked this question also and you didn't answer. It would be very helpful to include this in all your recipes. Thank you.

    1. Chef in Training

It serves about 4-5. Hope that helps!

I just finished making this and it does smell amazing, but after following the recipe exactly, it is very watery. Is that normal for this recipe? Previously when I have made stroganoff the sauce is slightly thicker than gravy. This is much thinner. Do you have any tips or suggestions?

      No water is needed?

Love this recipe! But, weird to see the print I made from this back in February doesn't have cream cheese listed on it. Did you change the recipe recently?

Otherwise, the only modification I make is that I brown the meat first.

Soooooooooooooo, good. Thanks for a non cream of mushrooms soup mix version. My husband loves this.

    1. Chef in Training

yes I added some cream cheese for a little big creamier texture. Either way would be delicious :)

Using fresh mushrooms added way too much liquid to this recipe, I should have used canned. I was a little concerned that it didn't call for any seasonings at all, and for good reason. It was very bland. It needed garlic, seasoned salt, pepper, paprika. After I added these, it tasted much better. I would give the dish 3 stars out of 5.

    Great recipe as always!!!
