Nutella Pretzel Brownies
Nutella. Pretzel. Brownies.
Could life get any better?!
These brownies are absolute heaven! I really could go on and on and ON about how much I loved these, but I will let the name, ingredients and picture do the talking :)
Nutella Pretzel Brownies
A delicious spin on brownies, combining the amazing flavors of sweet and salty. Nutella stars to make these brownies the amazing dessert that they are.
Recipe type: Dessert
Ingredients
PRETZEL CRUST
- ½ cup pretzels
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
BROWNIES
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ¾ tsp. vanilla
- ⅓ cup Nutella
- ¼ cup cocoa
- ⅔ cup flour
- ¼ tsp. salt
- extra Nutella to frost brownies
- extra pretzels for garnishing
Instructions
To make the crust
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat an 8 x 8 inch baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
- Place the pretzels in the bowl of a food processor and pulse until broken up into tiny pieces. Add the sugar and pulse until combined, then pour in the butter. Continue pulsing until combined.
- Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the prepared pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the edges are golden and the crust feels firm.
While the crust is baking, make the brownies:
- Cream butter and sugar together.
- Add eggs and blend well.
- Add vanilla, salt, and Nutella. Mix until combined
- Add cocoa and flour. Don’t overbeat.
- Pour into pan over pretzel crust and bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes. Or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow brownies to cool for at least 45 minutes before frosting with nutella spread and garnishing with pretzels.

Wowza!!! This looks incredible :) Pinned, for sure!
Robin
These look delicious! Do you place the brownie on the prepared crust? Seems like more brownie than crust with the differing pan sizes? Thanks for the recipe:)
Chef in Training
sorry I used my brownie recipe and forgot to change the pan size. You pour it over the pretzel crust and bake in the same pan.
Rhys
How many people does it serve?

The 1/2 cup of pretzels is before or after the trip through the food processor. Half a cup of unbroken pretzels doesn't seem like much. This recipe sounds amazing.
Emily
So you don't bake the brownies on top of the pretzel crust?
Chef in Training
yes, you pour on top of the pretzel crust after the pretzel crust has baked. Then bake the whole thing for the brownie time specified.

The two foods my son adores most in the world are Nutella and pretzels, especially combined. I think this is fate...you posted this yesterday; today is his 15th birthday. Guess who's getting a batch of these brownies tonight! Thanks...

Made this 08/13/12. I put in 4 Tbsp of butter instead of 3 Tbsp and put in 1/2 of crushed pretzels. I baked it for 25 minutes and I thought the brownie part was a little hard. I'll try 20 minutes next time. Hubbs took it to work today and it got rave reviews. Yum!
Nicole
How many does this recipe make? Thank you!

I can't believe that this recipe didn't work! I baked for thirty minutes and it is still completely raw in the middle. So angry. If you screw up writing a recipe on Pinterest, FIX IT! Now my recipe for tonight is ruined and I can't fix it. You are a jerk.
Cathy
this recipe should have 1-1/2 cups pretzels and you left out the 1/4 tsp baking powder. Also.............it takes about 35 minutes to get the brownies done enough
Synclaire
will the brownies come out thick because it is an 8x8 because in the picture they look just right.
Tracy
I don't know what some of these ladies are complaining about...I have made these 2x following the recipe exactly, but did let them bake an additional 5 mins and they received rave reviews! Fantastic! Just don't double the recipe!
Stephanie
I love anything Nutella! Can't wait to try. Thanks for sharing!
Melissa
I love this recipe! I've made this a few times and it's always been a hit. I do cook it an additional 10 minutes, though, because the middle is pretty much still brownie batter after 25 minutes (at least in my oven).
Alyssa Hudson
How many does it make?

Gila
I just made these brownies the other day and they were a huge hit!
They are super moist and the combination of sweet and salty is really fabulous. They are very rich, so you could easily omit the nutella frosting and pretzel garnish but either way, they're delicious! Next time, I would personally add more pretzels to the crust mixture to make it thicker and I personally used unsweetened all-natural cocoa powder which I actually preferred since these are already extremely sweet.
Thanks for the recipe!
