Nutella Banana Bread

I am in love.

Yes I am in love with my husband….but I am also in love with Nutella. I know crazy right?!

I found this blog called Nutella Everyday and it is filled with recipes involving Nutella.  Oh my! It is getting to be an issue for me because when I see a recipe with it, I must make it immediately.

It was no different for this AMAZING recipe.  It was like two, already great tasting, foods got together and decided to blow everyone away with their delicious powers.  I am talking about the day banana bread met up with Nutella and produced a masterpiece.

Nutella Banana Bread… this recipe is outstanding! The Nutella really makes the flavor delicious and unique!

  19. Charlea Finley

This is amazing!! Just finished making it! Easy, quick (other than the hour it takes to cook) and no more wasted bananas!

  20. Anette

Thank you so much, for your inspiration's.....Your recepies are easy enough for me to make.....And I just loooooove my Nutella.....so glad I found it here in the States...It's like having a little bit of Home (Germany) here with me!!!

    1. Jaz

If the bananas are ripe enough the sugar can be completely left out. Just like a 3/4 cup of Nutella is way to much for my taste. I used 3 Tablespoons. Way too sweet otherwise. But the texture is great.

  21. Joanna

I just made this. It was absolutely DIVINE. Top 10 thing I ever baked.

  22. Stefanie

I am baking this recipe and the 8 x4 loaf pan is way too small. A lot of batter leaked out of the pan and onto the floor of the oven. I would suggest at least a 9 x 5 or larger loaf pan.

  23. Jennifer

I just made this...smells delicious, but my bread "fell" in the middle and seems to be not done in the spots where the Nutella is....did I possibly add too much Nutella? I baked for 55 minutes and let cool for about an hour before transferring onto cooling rack

    1. Holli

I had the same problem..and I left it in for over 60 mins..I think I over swirled lol

  24. Shannon

I made this last night and served it to my kids for breakfast. The bread is delicious but there is way too much nutella. I must not have swirled as much toward the edges of the pan, so those spots had a smaller (just right) amount of Nutella. The middle ended up as a gooey, super sweet mess. I might make this again but will probably use about 1/4 c. Nutela.

  25. Pralin

Very nice cake. I love banana and nutella together.

  26. margie pinson

Loved it! I used peanut butter instead of the Nutella, only because my daughter in allergic to tree nuts. It is so yummy. I love reading your blog and making your recipes. Never disappointed

  27. Kim

This looks fabulous! Has anyone tried substituting the flour to make it gluten free? I'd love to try this!

    1. Mariana

Me! Use gluten free bread flour with xantham gum, not the all purpose one. And add more milk, instead of 1/3 cup use 1/2 cup. It worked really well.

  28. Olivia

Hi there, this looks delicious! I am thinking of making the recipe in mini loaves for Christmas treats. Do you have any suggestions for cooking the mini loaves? Sadly, I'm not much of a baker!

  29. Jennifer

This is a nice twist to banana nut bread. Who doesn't LOVE Nutella?! I discovered it is best to grease pan instead of spray. Very pretty bread, too. Great gift!

  30. Dede

made this the other night with my 5 yr old for dessert. It was a very moist and flavorful bread and was a great hit. even my non-banana bread eating husband had a generous size piece.

    Thanks for sharing this

  31. Dana

I just made this and added about 3/4 cup of coconut. This bread is absolutely delicious!

  32. Annie

    Just made it... incredible!

  33. emily

i just wanted to say THANK YOU for sharing this recipe! a friend of mine posted it and i am about to serve it up to my family! it smells delicious and looks amazing!

  34. Shari

Really Nikki?? I so love your posts but oh my!! Nutella and Banana Bread?? Now I've got to make this! Sounds sooo good....thanks for consistently posting such yummy recipes!

  35. Karen

I would use a 9x5 loaf pan next time, my batter is spilling out! However it did smell good while baking....until the bits on the oven floor began to char :(

  36. Sieara

I made this bread and it was AMAZING. I used it to make French Toast.... covered it in pure maple syrup.... IT WAS AMAZING! :D <3

  37. Ruth

By no stretch of the imagination does this batter fit into a 8x4 pan. It's in my oven now and thank goodness I had the foresight to put a baking sheet under it because it's a goopy, sloppy mess. It was way too much batter for that size pan--a 9x5 would have been perfect (and I followed the recipe to a T). I hope this saves someone a horrible looking mess in their oven. I just hope something is salvageable.

  38. Ruth

Oh, and now that I looked at your picture, you did use a 9x5 pan (I can tell by the shape). You may want to fix your recipe to help others.

  39. Krystal

I made this today it turned out perfect! The whole house smelled of banana bread and it came out chewy and wonderful. Definitely a keeper! Thank you for this recipe :)

  40. Dawn

Wowzer!! This recipe is amazing! It was super easy and by bible talk group loved it! In fact they loved it so much, I didn't have any pieces left and had lots of requests to make it again! So with the family coming to town the next day I had to whip up another batch! Yummy yum!

  41. Tracy

Love Nutella and bananas. Looking forward to trying this !!

  42. Laurie L.

The pan size is way too small for this recipe. Use a larger pan than the 8" x 4" one!!!! You will have a huge mess in your oven & a possible oven fire if you don't use a larger loaf pan. This happened to me, so learn from my mistake!

    1. Chef in Training

oh my goodness! thanks for sharing your story and I am so sorry this happened. I just changed the pan size.

  43. Alejandra Alfaro

Sorry, there is no baking powder in this recipe ?

  44. Maria

Thank you for the amazing recipes. Will definitely make.

  45. Rebecca

This looks delicious! Is the entire cup of sugar really necessary? I don't mind if it's not overly sweet, I think the bananas and Nutella might be enough - does it hurt the recipe if the sugar is omitted?

  46. TeresTa

When I first made this recipe, I used 1 cup of all purpose white flour and 1 cup of wheat flour. It was wonderful, and next time I will gently swirl the Nutella into the batter before spreading into my bread pan. I had the same issue with the Nutella clumping in the center and the bread fell in the middle. It didn' stop us from devouring it though!!!

  47. Cristina

Hi! So I made this recipe yesterday and the top burned while the inside of the bread never cooked properly. I finally had to cut the top off so the rest can cook and obviously it was not pretty...lol! I used a classic Pyrex loaf pan and was just wondering if I should only fill half way or what I could be doing wrong! Help please??

  48. Laurie

Tastes good but as it cooled the center caved in. So much for giving as gifts for Christmas. Disappointed.

  49. Kay

Must have done something wrong. Took much longer than stated time to test done. After cooling in pan, turned it out and the bottom came off in the pan - still not done. What is the secret to good results with this recipe? It is delicious but a mess )-:

  50. Ari

My kids keep asking for this recipe. I make as muffins lately. :) And I add a cheese frosting with nutella. It's great, thank you!

  51. Susan

Made this the other day and OMG it turned out great and it taste fantastic. Was a bit wary about the Nutella in the middle but I will definitely make this again. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.

  52. Carmen Wishlow

Soon as the boys are in bed I am making this!!! I had a ton of left over bananas and I am on a huge nutella kick! Cannot wait to try this!

The cake is moist and amazing! plus it's easy to make and smells so very yuuummmmmy

  54. Emma

I just made this... It's such an easy recipe... My husband loved it

  55. James Cardamone

They came out amazing and I used disposable mini cake pans!

  56. Lindsay Dickson

I am having an issue with the cooking of the banana bread. I use the correct size glass bread pan, however after cooking for 60 minutes the center of the bread is still not cooked. Any suggestions?

  57. Kasia McCallum

I'm expert when comes to bannana breads.I find my favorite and fallow same recipie for years. My teenagers love Nutella so I give this recipe a try. Very disappointed. The loaf have a big ,unbaked hole right in the middle. Problem with heavy breads like this one they should be bake in bound forms instead a loaf and cut the time of baking by 15 min ,So instead of 1 hrs should be 45 main for 350 F.I will give this recipe a northern try but definitely with my adjustment.

  58. Tammy Carrara

This is my SECOND time to make this fantastic bread....and I can only say..."WOW"!!!!!!!!!!
You all have to try this...it is moist, chocolatey and dense...but is oh so wonderful!
Make one for yourself...and another for someone you love! SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I gave this a go. It is good, but incredibly sweet, even thought I reduced the sugar by a third. Any suggestions, other than reducing the sugar still further?

    1. Christie

I reduced the sugar too, it's just a matter of taste as to how much to cut back. With the sweetness of the Nutella and bananas (if very ripe) add some sugar, then taste the batter before adding more. Worked out well for me.

  60. Alice

Made this last evening and it tastes great! Batter amount was just right and formed a nice arch at the top. I made 2 changes: added a little more than half cup sugar instead of the one cup, and added Nutella to half a cup of batter more than the instructions. Thank you for this recipe! :)

  61. Olivia

This banana bread is delicious! I've made it countless times and even given it as gifts. Always a hit. Giving it a try with Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 flour to make it gluten free for my husband!

  62. Neha Saxena

Disappointed! I let it in the oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes and yet portions of it did not cook. It smelt heavenly but I feel so let down!

    1. Heather

I turn mine half way through. You might want to try that!

Delicious! I made this today and my family loved it. I'll be making this again very soon. Thanks!

I'll be honest, I was skeptical as to how this would turn out. It turned out amazing, 9/10 I'd add nuts next time. I did fist the top. I like things very sweet and this was not too sweet. I used brown sugar not white. I'm taking this to a Nye party tomorrow, will definitely make this again, great recipe. Also mine took an hr to bake possibly hr and 5 mins. During the last 15 mins I covered with foil so the top did not brown too much.

  66. ScotchieSan

Just made it and it tastes wonderful! Super easy to!

  67. Mariana

I've made this recipe several times, always good results until my husband was diagnosed with gluten intolerance. Tried to make it again with different gluten free flours didn't work. Today I tried with the gluten free bread flour with xantham gum. That did the trick! Amazing!! Instead of 1/3 cup of milk I put 1/2cup and to reduce the sweetness I use brown sugar. It is absolutely delicious.
My family loves your nutella bread!!

Make this all the time, it is so decadent and a family favorite. When I make this into 12 muffins I only use 1/2 cup of Nutella

  70. Live for Nutella

    3

The nutella in this recipe is too much, and requires an additional 20 minutes baking time. And it would be better to use a bigger pan. Mine overspilled on the tray I put under it before baking and I had to bake it for 80 minutes total.

I've tried several recipes. This is the only one that had satisfied me and it turned out to be amazing. My kids loved it so much.Thank you very much.❤️

    5

Made it last week and loved it! Only ended up having enough bananas for one cup but it still tasted amazing. Used German Nutella instead of American stuff because it's less sweet and it was just perfect. Thank you!

Hi, this is my 4th time making this but I've always had a problem of the loaf sinking in the middle once it's cooled- I only got it right the first time I made it. I tried to reduce the temperature and increase the baking time to 90 minutes but it still didn't work and I still have a sunken loaf - and I'm supposed to take it to a hi-tea. Read the comments and found that I'm not alone. If you have a solution for this please please PLEASE let us know ?

I made this bread and the taste was awesome. Only thing was the bread was a little crumbly. What could possibly be the reason which i could rectify the next time?
