White Chocolate Sheet Cake

Hi there! Kristyn from Lil’ Luna here.I’m so happy to be guest posting today and helping out while Nikki is spending time with her hubby in the hospital.

I just love this girl and use her recipes ALL THE TIME!!

Today I wanted to share with you my CURRENT favorite dessert.

I’m a huge fan of ALMOND EXTRACT, (I put it in most of my desserts even if it doesn’t call for it) and this dessert has it in the cake AND the frosting!

I also tend to like WHITE versions of desserts (vanilla more so than chocolate, that is)….Blondies vs. BrowniesWhite Sheetcake vs. Regular SheetcakeWhite Chocolate Molten Lava Cake vs. Milk Chocolate Molten Lava Cake(this is a dessert at Chili’s – if you have not had it, you HAVE to have it!)

Oh yeah, and this dessert has lots of butter, and being a Paula Deen fan, we all know that EVERYTHING tastes better with butter!

Bottom line – I just love this dessert, and I hope you do too. :)

-1 c. butter

-1 c. water

-2 c. flour

-1 tsp. baking soda

-1 tsp. salt-

2 c. sugar

-2 eggs, beaten

-1/2 c. sour cream

-1 tsp. almond extract

Frosting Ingredients:

-1/2 c. butter

-1/4 c. milk

-4 1/2 c. powdered sugar

-1/2 tsp. almond extract

-1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

1. Bring butter and water to a boil in a saucepan.

2. Remove from heat and whisk in flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, eggs, sour cream and almond extract until smooth.

3. Pour into a greased 15×10 baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes.

4. While cake is cooling, make frosting.

5. Combine butter and milk in a saucepan; cook over low heat until butter melts. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

6. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and almond extract; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until spreading consistency. Stir in walnuts (optional).

7. Spread frosting on top of cake.

Serves between 16-20.

So stinkin’ YUMMY!I promise you won’t be disappointed if you try this. :)

Thanks for letting me be here today, Nikki, and be sure to come over and say hi!

Did I miss something? The recipe is titled White Chocolate Sheet Cake, but I don't see white chocolate in the ingredient list. (I love this font!!)

I cook for 50 residents in an old folks home and made this recipe today (I had to double it). The cake is so moist. Really loved the texture but I think next time I'll try orange essence as the cake seemed to lack a definitive flavour - and yes I used the almond essence.
