I love all things caramel and chocolate!  These little bars are seriously a bite of heaven!  I had to practice self-control to not devour the whole pan myself :)  As you can tell, mine are a little gooey in the picture because I could hardly wait to cut into them!

Author:
Ingredients
  • 64 caramel squares, unwrapped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1½ cups butter, melted
  • 1½ cups brown sugar
  • 2 cup flour
  • 2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. In a small sauce pan, combine caramels and cream over low heat. Stir constantly until completely smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, add melted butter, brown sugar, flour, oats, and baking soda until well combined.
  4. Divide the oatmeal mixture in half and press half the mixture evenly into the bottom of an 8x8" pan.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over crust.
  7. Pour caramel mixture over the chocolate chips.
  8. Crumble remaining oatmeal mixture over caramel.
  9. Return to oven and bake an additional 15-20 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned.
  10. Remove from oven and let the Caramelitas cool completely before cutting.

Enjoy!

Ohhhh noooo. I definitely would NOT be able to practice self control with these babies!! I will for sure be making these for a next get-together so I don't devour them all lol. Hey, at least there are oats, that makes them healthy, right?? :)

Would love to see this recipe include an option for making the caramel, rather than buying and unwrapping the gross little cubes.

Could you tell me approx. how much 64 squares of caramel melted equals? I was thinking about using a homemade caramel but wasn't sure how much to use? thanks!

This overflowed an 8x8 pan. Other recipes online for the same amount of ingredients shows 9x13.
