Anyone know if chile verde sauce is the same thing as salsa verde? Like the jarred salsa verde? I'm not sure what to buy here but really want to try this.

    1. Mimi D

Did you ever get an answer?

    2. Jo

I would say yes, since usually chili verde has pork in it and this is a chicken dip...You cold try both ways though!

    3. Sher

No, I haven't gotten an answer back yet. Maybe Jo (the person below) is onto something and we could try the salsa verde and chile verde if we find it. Then we can compare. I've never bought chile verde so I don't know if it comes in a can or has to be homemade. I still don't know if it is the same thing as salsa verde or not.

Sorry about the confusion. I have now changed it to say specifically what I used. I use La Victoria's green taco sauce. It comes in a plastic bottle next to the cans of enchilada sauce, etc. Hope that helps and so sorry for mislabel.

La Victoria green taco sauce is very smooth. Can find it in the Hispanic section of the grocery store. It is kind of like the green chile packets you can get at taco bell...Very good

    6. SAN

      It's just chunkier.

    7. Evelyn

It’s the same chile verde and salsa verde.

Where do you get chili verde sauce? Can you buy it or do you make it?

Any type of Mexican food ingredients are hard to come by in the area of Maine in which I live. Am very interested in knowing if salsa verde can be used instead of chile verde. Thanks!

I am glad to see I am not the only one wondering about the chile verde sauce-if it's something that you can buy or if you have to make that separately. This looks delicious and I would love to make it!

Yes, you can use another brand of salsa verde if you can't find the La Victoria! I've even used canned green enchilada sauce and some chopped canned green chilis! I bet fresh roasted green chilis would be delicous - that'll be my next experiment!
