Copy-Cat Chili’s Salsa

One of my favorite appetizers to get at a restaurant is just your typical “Chips and Salsa.”

Chili’s salsa is my absolute favorite! MMM!  Sometimes, my hubby and I will just go buy some whenever we get a hankering for it!

You can imagine my excitement when I found this copy-cat recipe from Deals to MealsMy husband had a salsa contest at work and I knew that this recipe would be PERFECT for it!  Last year I brought Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips, but this year I thought it would be fun to do a salty/spicy one. It was a big hit and everyone LOVED it! This recipe tastes EXACTLY like the original!

Copy-Cat Chili's Salsa

Copy-Cat Chili's Salsa! This tastes exactly like the original and whips up in just a few minutes!
Recipe type: Appetizer
Ingredients
  • 2 (14.5 oz) cans whole tomatoes, drained
  • 1 (4 oz.) can diced jalapenos
  • ¼ cup onion
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. lime juice, I like fresh limes
  • 2 Roma Tomatoes, to add some chunks, you can dice up the tomatoes really small for added texture. Completely optional.
Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth. I stirred in some small diced Roma Tomatoes just for some added texture, but that is completely optional.

Enjoy!

Awesome! We love Chili's salsa but we now live no where near one. This is perfect thank you!

  3. Hayley @ The Domestic Rebel

I love Chili's salsa! It's so spicy and quite runnier than traditional pico salsas, but I think that's why I like it. I hope this salsa won at his work contest!

  4. Ally's Sweet & Savory Eats

I'm making this tonight! I have tons of tomatoes to use up and have all the ingredients already at home - thank you!

Perfect timing! I have a birthday party planned for my husband on Friday and had just thought of buying salsa to save time. I'll be making this instead! And the best part? I have everything in my pantry or garden already! Thanks so much. I'll be sharing this one, with a link of course!

  12. Shirlu

It sounds so good. Does it matter what kind of canned tomatoes you use in the salsa recipe?

    1. Chef in Training

just 2 (14.5 oz.) cans whole tomatoes, doesn't matter the brand. let me know if that is the answer to what you were looking for! Have a great day :)

  13. Emily

  14. Tess

I noticed there was no cilantro in this recipe could it be added as well?

    1. Chef in Training

you definitely could! I love cilantro and think that would make a yummy addition :)

  16. jerry

    Very salty

  17. Summer

I love this; I've been looking for a Chilli's Salsa recipe and I can't wait to try this. I just had one question. Does it matter what kind of onions you put in it [[yellow, red, white, etc]]

  18. Patty

Chile's salsa is my favorite!! I didn't notice any cilantro in your ingredients though. I'll have to try your recipe, but with the addition of cilantro.

  19. Zack

Tried making this but it came out way too smooth, unlike the picture above. It was more like tomato juice than salsa. Can't figure out what I did wrong.

  20. CHRIS

I LOVE this recipe. I just shared it on my page. I followed the directions, but I planted jalepenos and serranos this year. So I added one of each and then a tad of fresh cilantro. YUMMY

  21. Samantha

You just made my husbands weekend! He loves this salsa!! Thanks girl

  22. Amanda McCall

Wow! No cilantro? Thats crazy! Its not salsa without cilantro… Charanda's has my favorite salsa… I think there may only be a few locations but they are all authentic mexican cuisine- restaurants… Their salsa is like ….omgah.. THE BEST! I also used to love Chilis also but then we moved and Charandas is not far from my house.. I have to get it on the regular.. Just as a treat! Its out of this world and always fresh. Fresh CILANTRO… its a sin not to put some in salsa… :)

  23. Karen

We loved this salsa!! Will be making it again and again....thanks.

  24. Becky

I'm actually a manager at a Chili's somewhere in the world, I can tell you that this recipe is very similar to what we use. Here's a hint.. use a blender on the tomato products and your consistency will be on point. :)

  25. Patty

I am pretty sure their salsa has cilantro, that's why I love it so much:)

  26. Kelli

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am a huge salsa fan/critic and I loved this!!!

  27. crystal

I use this recipe base all the time. usually have people ask for a double batch. only things I do different are I will use fresh jalapenos that I roast in a skillet and chop and I will use petite diced tomatoes when tomatoes are not in season. I just dump them in after I blend everything. to stretch the recipe I use petite with jalapeno or green chilis.

  28. Michelle

I added celantro too this recipe. I swear I can taste it in the Chili's recipe too. When it was done it was spot on in taste.

  29. Rhonds

Can't wait to try this! I have tons of stuff in my garden, do you know if this recipe can be canned? Or do I need to add lemon juice or vinegar to it?

  30. Brandy

Is this recipe ok to can or do I need to add more acid?

  31. Julia C

I clicked on the link for the recipe but it doesn't go through, do you have the exact things that need to be added?

This is my FAVORITE recipe. I made it in college all of the time and found it this past weekend again. Just as good as I remember! Can you tell me how long it will keep in the fridge and if it freezes well? Thank you!
