Homemade Breadsticks

One thing my mom does for my siblings and I still to this day (yes, I am married and have 2 kids) is make a dinner for our birthdays.  No matter how old we get, it is something we look forward to. We live just an hour away from my parents, so the drive is never too far.  My sister had her birthday last month and we all went to my parents place to celebrate.  One reason I love to go home is for my mom’s cooking.  She was my inspiration behind this blog.  I aspire to be as good of a cook as her one day.  The birthday girl (my sister) picked the dinner menu.  The side dish she wanted was homemade breadsticks!  They were DELICIOUS!

HOMEMADE BREADSTICKS

1 Tbsp yeast
1-1/2 cup warm water
3 cup flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
garlic salt
dried parsley
fresh grated Parmesan cheese

Activate yeast in the warm water to get it happy and ready to make our bread rise.  Mix in flour, sugar, and salt.
Let dough rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Combine Melted butter, garlic salt and dried parsley and pour into a cookie sheet.
Divide dough into 12 pieces.
Roll out each piece into long strips.  Roll in melted butter and twist strip to get the fun bread stick shape.
Bake at 375 F for 18 minutes.  Take pan out and sprinkle bread sticks with fresh grated Parmesan cheese.  Put back  in oven for another 2 minutes.

Enjoy!

    OMG! DELICIOUS
These don’t have anything on those braedsticks from that rest. Chain!
They are so tasty, a light crunch on the outside and soft and chewy on the
inside. I’m upset I only made half a recipe. I did let them rise for 90 min
and then twisted them and let them rise 30 more min. Cooked
for 14 min. This is a keeper. Thankyou so much for sharing.

My daughter and I made these tonight to go with an Italian dish. They were amazing! The family agreed this one is a “do over” and often! Daughter said she could eat just these for dinner! Thank you for sharing!
