Pizza Pie Cafe Inspired Dessert …

I recently discovered a place called Pizza Pie Cafe.It is amazing to say the least.  They have a whole slew of pizzas of all different varieties that are just delicious.  However, it is there dessert pizzas that have me going back again and again. My mom came up recently to visit and to go out to lunch.  She had never been to Pizza Pie Cafe so we decided she HAD to try it out.  She instantly fell in love and started gushing about how delicious the dessert pizzas were.  We decided we were going to attempt to recreate these amazing pizzas!  If you haven’t been to this restaurant, you need to check it out at least once and sample there dessert pizza buffet. Two of our favorites were the Oreo and the Cookie Dough dessert pizzas.  Ours tasted a little different than the originals, but they were still DELICIOUS!Let’s start with the dough…PIZZA DOUGH2 cups warm water1 T. yeast1/2 Tbsp. salt1 Tbsp. sugar5 cups flour, divided2 T. olive oil (or shortening) 1. Mix warm water and yeast, let sit 5 minutes.  2. Add 2 ½ cups flour and mix well in Kitchen Aid or with a dough hook. 3. Add additional 2 ½ cups flour and salt, knead. Let dough rest in a ball for 10 to 20 minutes. 4. Pour 2 Tbsp. olive oil onto pan5. Roll dough very thin and place in greased pan6. Preheat oven to 400 F 7. Divide dough in half.  This recipe is good for two pizzas.  I made one Oreo and one cookie dough but you could do two of the same instead.  Just double the ingredients listed under each dessert pizza’s ingredients if you choose to do that.First up, I will show you the Cookie Dough Pizza.COOKIE DOUGH PIZZA1/2 cup shortening1/2 cup brown sugar1/4 cup sugar1 egg1 tsp. vanilla1-1/2 to 2 cups flour1/2 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp. saltMini semi-sweet chocolate chipsCream shortening and sugar together.Add dry ingredients and mix together.  You want it to be a little thicker than your typical cookie dough so add more flour if needed.Mix in mini semi-sweet chocolate chips.Crumble on top of second pizza dough.Bake at 400 for 15-18 minutes. While pizza is cooking, Make the glaze. When the pizza is cooked and out of the oven, drizzle the cream cheese glaze, caramel topping, and a fudge topping. (I use the jar toppings for the caramel and fudge)CREAM CHEESE GLAZE1/2 cup butter, softened2 ounces cream cheese, softened2-1/2 to 3 cups powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla1/2 tsp. salt1/4 cup Heavy creamCream butter and cream cheese together. Beat in powdered sugar..  Blend in vanilla and salt.  Add in heavy cream and beat until well combined.  Adjust Heavy cream and powdered sugar to get glaze to your desired consistency.Next up is the Oreo Pizza(I know the Oreo pizza picture is kind of lame, but it went fast and this was the only piece left!  I wish I could show you the whole pizza because it is just as gorgeous!)It was so YUMMY!OREO DESSERT PIZZA40 oreossoftened butterCrush Oreo’s finely in a food processor.Smear a layer of butter over top the pizza dough.Sprinkle on the crushed OreosBake at 400 F for 15-18 minutesWhen Pizza is out of the oven, drizzle with cream cheese glaze and a caramel sauceEnjoy!Linking up to these parties and here

  5. Becky, I am so sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I hope it turned out. It was a typo on my end and I forgot to add the cream cheese into the recipe. I apologize for any incontinence that caused you and hope it still turned out okay. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
