I love cookies, but then again who doesn’t?!

I love cookies of all varieties- its hard to go wrong. I have some pretty unique cookies on the blog, but sometimes its good to pay a visit to the classics. Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are a favorite of ours and this recipe is the best!

The chewiness that comes from the oats and raisins is perfection!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
These cookies are INCREDIBLE! You won't be able to stop at just one!
Recipe type: Dessert
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 3 cups oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars thoroughly. Add eggs and vanilla and beat again. Add flour, salt baking soda, and baking powder and mix together until dough is formed. Stir in oats and raisins.
  3. Drop in spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 to 12 minutes.

    Oatmeal cookies of any kind are my fave! More so than chocolate chip even I think! I love that you used raisins. Some people don't like them but I love them :) Pinned of course!

    Love your recipes. On this Oatmeal Cookie recipe, do you use regular oats or quick? Does it make a difference. I love oatmeal raisin cookies and have been looking for a GOOD recipe.

    Quick question, Nikki. Does it matter if you use quick oats versus rolled oats in this recipe?

      I use old fashioned oats for this recipe. I haven't tried it with quick, but I do know the two do have slightly different textures than the other.

    These look delicious, do you think that some of the butter could be substituted with coconut (I cannot remember the name of it, but it is solid like shortening or butter) I would also have to substitute and cut back on the sugar as my hubby is a diabetic.

    Just a warning about this recipe - the ratios are off, resulting in a very poorly baked cookie. I wouldn't recommend it! :-(

    These were delicious. I did exchange one stick of the butter for unsweetened applesauce. I also boiled the raisins because I had to steal mine from my husband's trailmix and they were salty. My neighbor told me to boil them to plump them. So good!

    What a great cookie! I think you left out cinnamon from the instructions though. I've re-read them many times in case I was wrong:)

    What did I do wrong? These are still in the oven but are totally flat - I pretty much have a cookie sheet of flat oatmeal cakes that are all connected together! They sure smell good though!

      Mine did the same..flattened out & look nothing like the picture

      I put mine in the fridge for about 2 hours. That prevented the flat cookie dilemma. Hope this helps. ?

      is your baking soda old? could be the culprit .... happened to me plenty of times until I figured out my baking soda had lost its potentcy

    Please note -cinnamon is called for in the list of ingredients. However, it is omitted in the recipe directions. Missed this prior to baking. Cookies were still delicious.

    I used this recipe but cut out the cinnamon and substituted chocolate chips for raisins! They are so chewy and delicious!
