Overnight Caramel Apple French Toast Casserole

This is one INCREDIBLE breakfast! All the prep work is done the night before and ready to pop in the oven in the morning! The caramel apple flavor is in each and every bite and the syrup is phenomenal!
Ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread, Cubed
  • 12 eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅓ cup caramel ice cream topping
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1½ cups diced green apples
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
Apple Syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup diced green apples
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1⅓ cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Place half of the cubed French bread in the bottom of the baking dish and set the other half aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl beat the eggs with a whisk until well blended. Add heavy cream, milk, caramel sauce, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg and whisk until well blended. Set aside.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup apples over the bread cubes.
  5. Divide the cream cheese into quarter inch cubes and place over the top of the apples.
  6. Pour half of the egg mixture over the top.
  7. Place the remainder of the bread cubes over the top of the casserole and sprinkle the remainder of the apples over the bread. Pour the remaining egg mixture over the top and press the bread cubes into the egg mixture.
  8. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  9. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 35 to 45 minutes.
Apple syrup
  1. In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter and then add the apples and sauté until tender. Add brown sugar, cream and cinnamon. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute and remove from heat.
  2. Pour syrup into a container and pour over French toast.
  3. Store remaining syrup in an airtight container in fridge and reheat as needed.
