Orange Rolls

Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp. yeast
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1-1/4 cup warm milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. orange peel, grated
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • approx. 5 cup flour
FROSTING
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 3 Tbsp. orange juice
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 box (16 oz.) powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. orange rind
Instructions
Orange Rolls
  1. Stir yeast, warm milk, oil, salt and sugar together and let stand 5 minutes to get the yeast activated and happy.
  2. Mix in remaining ingredients and add as much flour as needed for soft dough.
  3. Knead 10 minutes.
  4. Cover and let rise until dough has doubled in size.
  5. Mix down.
  6. Put on floured board and let rise an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Roll 18 in x10 in rectangle and about 1.5 inches thick.
  8. Cut in half (9 in x 10 in).
  9. Cut into ½ inch strips.
  10. Tie each strip into a knot.
  11. Rise on greased cookie sheet for about 45 minutes.
  12. Bake at 400 F for 12 minutes.
Frosting
  1. Cream butter in a medium mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth.
  2. You can add more milk or powdered sugar to get it to the consistency you want it.
