Cookie Salad

I am guessing by the title of this recipe, you have all concluded this isn’t your typical salad… and you are right!

I love a good salad.  Seriously.  Leafy greens and mix up the salty or sweet additions… its great!

I also love a dessert salad.  Like this one.  It is the perfect combination of flavors!  When I first heard what went into it I was very skeptical of how it would all taste together… well take my word for it…  it is AMAZING!  I first tried/received this recipe from my parent’s cute neighbors.  My family has been hooked ever since. We had a BBQ with our friends recently and I made this as a side dish/dessert and everyone loved it!  I also love it because it is unique and different.  If you have to bring a side to a dinner with your friends or family, give this one a whirl!

I definitely agree with the other commenters -- this is one salad I can always say yes to! Reminds me of when I used to get blizzards from Dairy Queen as a kid. =)

Making this for the family this weekend {pinning, too}! Thanks Nikki!

  5. Amy T

Sounds tasty. I bet the buttermilk gives it some zing!

  6. Brenna

I have been making this for years and everyone loves it! We also add bananas right before serving so they don't go brown:)

  7. Rebecca

I make a similar salad and it's now been dubbed "Rebecca Fluff". :) I love the idea of putting pineapple in it, the mandarin oranges are my favorite part of my salad. I also include Oreos in mine. Next batch I'm adding pineapple though!

    Now that's a salad I would like!

This sounds exactly like MY "The Best Buttermilk Salad Ever" recipe!

  10. Heather Clelland

I add flaked coconut to it and it is yummy

Why do you use buttermilk instead of regular milk in the cookie salad recipe? I'm just curious. Thank you!! I will be trying this recipe for sure'

This is an old recipe I've made for almost 28 years. The original recipe I have is called "Buttermilk Salad" 1pkg vanilla pudding (instant), 1 1/2 cups buttermilk, 8oz cool whip, mandarian oranges, pineapple tidbits, 2-3 bananas and the stripped cookies (now they come in bite size) It's a huge favorite with all our friends and I am always designated to bring this all gatherings! Love it!

This is for people that have never eaten a quality dessert made with quality ingredients. It's OK but that's it. Don't waste your $ on the ingredients to make it.

This is my "go to" summer time snack to bring to parties & everyone always enjoys it! I joke that this is "how you get invited to every event" salad.
