I am so excited to be working with The Hershey Company again.

The HERSHEY’S Brand has always been a part of my life, particularly HERSHEY’S KISSES Chocolates. My grandma always had them sitting in a bowl on her entryway table and I remember sneaking way more than my fair share starting at an early age. Chocolate has always been my go-to treat and the silkiness of HERSHEY’S KISSES Chocolates milk chocolate really hits the spot!

My kids are no different! They LOVE chocolate and I often discover that they have found my hidden stash somewhere :) My daughter is a girl after my own heart and requested we make a chocolate cake for her birthday last month.

She loves to help me bake and couldn’t wait to get in the kitchen with me to make her this beautiful cake! The ingredient list is super simple and uses ingredients you probably have in your pantry already.

Baking is huge passion of mine and any opportunity I am able to bake with my kids is a cherished time in my life. Seeing my children’s face light up when they create something in the kitchen is priceless.

We had this cake for her birthday party with our family and she was ecstatic to get to eat it!

This cake is so moist and packed with chocolate in every bite.

A little secret my mom taught me- if you want an EXTRA moist cake, after the cake has cooled completely, wrap the cake completely in plastic and let it sit like that for a few hours until you are ready to frost. Trust me, this little trick is life changing and you won’t believe the difference! ;)

The Cream Cheese Frosting on top really takes this cake over the top and is the perfect finishing touch and the HERSHEY’S KISSES Chocolates really add a nice hidden bite of extra chocolate in little pockets throughout the cake.

The cake looks amazing and I love the cakebox mix shortcut.
Question, what do you mean to wrap the cake in plastic? As in saran wrap?

    1. Chef in Training

      yes :)

I have always wrapped my cakes (even plain old cake mix cakes and from scratch wedding cakes) tight in plastic wrap immediately after removing from the oven. People always compliment on how moist my cakes are...and never believe me when I tell them to just wrap it up! It's TOTALLY the best secret!

BTW...thanks for this wonderful recipe! I will be making this for Thanksgiving this year!

This cake was beyond amazing!! First, super easy to make. Even piping the cream cheese frosting was no big deal. Outside of the ease, which is a bonus, it was better than bakery quality. So moist and delicious. The entire family loved it. My husband said I outdid myself. Seriously, thanks to this cake, I am a dessert hero!! Thanks for sharing this fabulous cake recipe. It went to quick for me to grab a pic and tag it, but there will definitely be a next time for this cake. A million thank yous!!

I'm not sure I understand, do I push the kiss down in the cake or just let it sit on top and it melts down into the cake?

    1. Chef in Training

just set them on top, they will sink into the cake as it bakes :)

I am making this now for my daughter's 3rd birthday! One question, I noticed your recipe for cream cheese frosting does not require any butter. Does the cake need to be refrigerated?

Made this cake today for Thanksgiving. It was amazing. I made homemade mocha buttercream frosting instead. Cannot believe how moist it was. Will definitely make again.

Made this to take to a friends cottage this weekend. Forgot to take pics, but it was awesome. I was surprised at how far down the Hershey's Kisses fell into the batter. And your tip of wrapping it in plastic wrap really works.

    1. margie

did you wrap it in the pan or after it came out of the pan????

    2. Chef in Training

After it comes out of the pan

    3. margie
