Just tried this earlier for my hubby's birthday and it was like heavenly delight! Though it is sweeter than most of the cakes I had and baked before, this will definitely be one of my favorites and a go-to recipe for my hubby since he cannot have eggs in any of his food. I'm sure this will be a hit next time with any of our family gatherings. But will have to cut a bit on the sur though. My kids love it too
especially that ooey-gooey chocolate at the bottom of the pan. And indeed, goes BEST with ice cream!

I have a recipe close to this from my grandmother. I make it for my dad every Thanksgiving and Christmas since my grandmother passed. I've never heated the water though. Wonder if it makes a difference.

I tried this recipe last night it was lovely, thanks for the recipe.

Could you prepare it in the morning and put it in the oven 45 minutes before you eat?
Megan
This is very yummy! Just made it tonight! What I am wondering though-are you supposed to use all of the brown sugar mixture on top? Thank you!! We divided it in half and made a treat for two...yummmm?
Rashi
When you say Cocoa - I'm supposed to use unsweetened cocoa (like Hintz), right?
Kiki
I just moved and only have some deeper aluminum pans available hopefully it will work

Looks delicious

It's the cooking time really the same if you use 9inch or 11x17 pan? I would think it would be different? What about a 9x13 pan?

I made the Hot Fudge Pudding Cake for our family get together. I substituted water for the milk for my Vegan son. It was delicious. We put vanilla ice cream on top and Vegan "ice cream" for my son. Everyone loved it and I will definitely make it again

Am new to baking...does brown sugar and cane sugar are the same??

I love the texture. But the flavour is lacking in richness. It has a bland sweetness. It could be me, but I did follow the directions carefully.

Made this last night and was a little confused with the boiling hot water at the end, but did as the recipe said.... buddy..... this is a keeper! If you're on the fence about this one, do it. You're guests will love you.

I have made a version of this recipe for the last 35 years. It is one of my mom's favorite desserts and when I go to visit her or she comes to me I have to make this for her. It funny she is coming in a few weeks and was thinking about making this and this recipe appears.

Can this be made ahead and reheated?
Margaret
Could this be done in the slow cooker?

This looks delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that it's made with 'real' ingredients. I'm a Pampered Chef consultant and make something along these lines in my deep covered baker in the microwave with cake mix and store-bought frosting. Though that's good, I'll bet this is better. I wonder if it would work in the deep covered baker? I can't wait to try your recipe!
Marica
Making this now and my "batter" is super thick...did I do something wrong?
ashlie
I want to make this but only have an 8x8 and 9x13, which one would work better and how to adjust the time?
Amanda Green
This was incredible!! It will be my go to from here on out. I cut out 2 Tbs of sugar from the powder mix and used 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp orange extract in place of the vanilla that's called for. It was like magic how it came out of the oven like a lava cake! Make this.. you won't regret it!!

Just made this, and it turned out fabulous. I can honestly say it's the best chocolate dessert I've made and I'm always baking. Now I like my chcolate taste to be very rich, I doubled the amount of cocoa for the cake batter. Thanks for sharing.
Diane
Wonderful taste!! 5 stars!
