Slow Cooker Berry Cobbler

You all know by now that I love my slow cooker, but I had yet, before this recipe, to try a dessert using that wonderful appliance. I don’t know what took me so long to try it out!

Cobbler is so yummy to me. I know most people enjoy it in the summertime, but I tend to enjoy it more in the winter. It just warms me up and the fruitiness makes the cold season a little more bearable :) This recipe comes from one of my favorite recipe sources, Taste of Home It was seriously delicious!

Slow Cooker Berry Cobbler!... This recipe is so easy to make and so delicious!

  3. Kelly @ Semi Homemade Mom

This looks wonderful! I had one bad experience with a dessert in the crockpot, but it was an old one and it ran really hot (the chocolate cake burned). Definitely pinning this to try on my newer crockpot, great Valentine's Day treat too!

  4. aimee

  9. Ashley @ Kitchen Meets Girl

I love using my slow cooker, but I've never been brave enough to try making a dessert in it. I guess I'll have to try now because this looks awesome!!

  12. Ellen

  13. Melissa B

  14. Roxana | Roxana's Home Baking

Taste of home is one of my favorite source for great recipes and your cobbler looks amazing Nikki! I hardly ever use my slow-cooker, had no idea you can make this deliciousness in it.
Thanks for sharing, gotta dust off mine more often.

  15. crystal

Can I use frozen berries? Would it make it soggy though? How would I change the recipe?

  16. paige shannon

This was very easy to make! my daughter has been in and out of the hospital since August and I wanted to make something for the nurses. Since they do not have an oven, I decided to bring in my crockpot and the berry cobbler was delicious. I brought the dry ingredients from home but was able to get peaches, lemon juice, eggs, milk and oil from the hospital kitchen! Thanks for a dessert i could make away from home. My daughter really enjoyed it. I did have one question - the dough part did not cover the bottom of the crockpot - was it supposed to? I am using the right size crockpot. Thanks again.

  17. Karen Wilson

Oh my gosh, this just sounds divine and something right up my ally!! Thank you for sharing!! I can't wait to try this.

  18. Jenna

OK this is a dumb question. Can you cook this in a regular oven?

  19. Leigh

This looks so good! I was so excited to see that it's so easy! I am going to have to try this ASAP! Woohoo

  20. Meg McGinn

I have this cooking tonight - still waiting for the dough to cook - has been over 2 hours so I turned it up to high. Hope I don't have to wait too much longer - it looks good, just doughy.

    1. Lisa

i think there is an error in the cooking directions. I've had it cooking on low for over 2 1/2 hours and the dough is still not cooked. I'm wondering if it should've been on Hi for the 2 2-1/2 hours. Was hoping to have this for dessert tonight but now I'm not sure it will be ready in time.

The same thing happened to me. I cooked it on high for another hour and still not cooked. Wound up going to another site for a cobblet recipe and put the whole thing in the oven. Came out ok. Would not make again.

    3. Linda

It is really too bad there is no response to the comments about cooking time. The recipe needs to be adjusted. I'm sorry I didn't read your comment first.

  21. Ellen

Taste of Home tells us to cook on high. Your recipe says to cook on low. Which one is it?

  22. Ashley

I'm cooking this as we speak. Fingers crossed! I made 1 1/2 times the recipe and used some canned peaches in lieu of all of the raspberries (not by choice) and I'm hoping all goes well.

  23. Chantalle

Omg I made this with raspberries n strawberries , wow soooooo amazing enjoyed every bite ;)

  24. Jackie

I made this last night with frozen mixed berries and my whole family and boyfriend loved it! I doubled the recipe and forgot to double the cooking time, so it ended up slightly gooey, but the whole cake was gone! The boys compared it to berry pancakes and loved how good it tasted with ice cream! So easy to make, and would definitely make again!

  25. Dawn

This looks amazing- I will be making this in the am for a cookout with my mom. I have made breakfast in my slow cooker- blueberry oatmeal and it is amazing :) Thanks for the recipe!

    1. Dawn

I made this tonight for my mom and she LOVED it!! The only substitution I made was walnut oil for the canola oil. I am not a big canola oil fan so I usually will change that for walnut or coconut. It was amazing!!! :)

  26. Svitlana

can i use whole wheat flour ?

  27. Lauren

HI what if your slow cooker is a 6 qt? Will I need to modify the recipe or would the original recipe be ok? Also could I just do all blackberries instead for this cobbler?

  28. Erica

Delicious!! I will be making this over and over!!
As hard as it was to share I did and it made people do a happy dance!! Thanks for sharing!

  29. Emily

This looks AMAZING!!!! I am definitely going to try it! Do you mind checking my new blog out? http://twins-inthekitchen.blogspot.com.au/

This looks so good! I can't wait to make it, I love making pies but they take so long, this will be an easy change for a treat.

  31. Gwen

This sounds so easy and perfect for family get togethers

This sounds good! Lately we have done all of our cobblers in the slow cooker. We spray our crock pot, which I believe is a 5 quart, with butter spray, place a can of pie filling in bottom, followed by a box of yellow cake mix. We then place a cut up stick of butter on top of mix, followed by 1/4- 1/2 cup of brown sugar. We spread paper towels across the top of pot just under lid, followed by propping up lid slightly with a spoon. This helps to decrease the build up of too much moisture. Don't worry, the cobbler is still moist. Cook on high for two hours or low for four hours. You can tell when it is done. Enjoy with whip cream or ice cream when still warm. It is easy and minimal mess.

    1. June

Sounds absolutely delicious. I must try, thank you

  33. Donald L. Heard

Canola Oil is not a healthy choice! Why do you
keep recomending it to your readers?

    1. Karen

I don't think these recipes are meant to be healthy since they all have sugar, white flour, etc. Truly yummy but definitely not healthy. If you're gonna bake with white flour, refined sugar, etc may as well use canola oil.

  34. Marlene

Do you have one for peach cobbler

  35. Stephanie

Looked amazing, cooked it for 2.5 hours like said and battery is still very doughy. But it taste great! Trying to turn it to high to see if that helps stiffen things up... Anyone else run into this problem?

    1. Jamie

I did. I cooked it for 2 hours on high and noticed I was no where near ready. So, I had to cook it an additional 1.5 hours on high.

  36. Jessica

Would using almond milk in substitution for the fat-free milk change up things too much? 3 out of 5 members of my family are sadly allergic to dairy. This looks SO good and I'd really love to try it!

  37. Nancy

i have a 7 quart slow cooker. any changes to this recipe?

  38. Nancy Larson

i have a 7 quart crock pot. do i need to do any changes to this? i would love to make this.

  39. JudyX2

Hi ... so my crockpot is not Low/Medium/High ... it has temps because it doubles as a deep fryer.
What "temp" would I set this at? Thanks a bunch!

  40. Loretta

i never use canola oil as it is extremely unhealthy. Instead I will use coconut oil, a much healthier alternative! Haven't tried this yet but plan to tomorrow. Thanks for the recipe.

  41. Ruth

Will the crock pot cobbler have some what of a crust on it?

  42. Rachelle

This looks Amazing. Would like to make it for my husband, can I substitute Splenda in place of sugar? He is diabetic.

  43. Me

Wow...should have read the comments first. So sad there is no answer (that I saw) to the cooking time/temp questions. I put this together at the last minute....and so now at 2.5 hrs on low I have a doughy mess :( Boo! I will guess and check as we go from here until? Midnight snack?!? Ha! Turned it up to High, so maybe a 10 o'clock snack! Thanks for the recipe though it smells great and when I dug under to test it the berries were yummy. When we figure out the rest I am sure it will be a keeper :)

  44. Jane Meeks

Am going to make the cobbler recipe asap.....looks yummy and pretty easy/.

  45. Judee

    5

Wow, made this today and it was awesome! I was nervous since I never made dessert in the crockpot before it was great!

  46. Chelsea

kind of disappointed to be honest. First it doesn't say how many it serves.. I'd say 4-5 servings. Secondly recipe forgot to say to spray the bottom of the crockpot, which I did but it definitely wasn't enough. Needs lots of spray or less cook time. And also the fruit was sort of overwhelming, I would double the cobble part. And as for flavor... I didn't have sugar so I use spend which was still good but I'll use half and half next time. But yeah definitely need to spray the bottom good before hand. I didn't have ice cream either so I used whip cream which worked well. I also feel like this recipe could be easier with bisquick or something but who knows.

  47. Cathy Hague

Was totally soupy after two and a half hours on low. Perhaps on high ?

  48. Becky

This was great. Did it in the crock pot n did another in my toaster oven.

  49. Carol

Can you use blackberries instead of raspberries?

  50. remee

CAN I USE PEACHES INSTEAD OF BERRIES?

  51. Joyce

can you double the slow cooker berry cobbler using a 6 quart slow cooker

  52. Wendy Russell

I like to make mine in a Dutch oven over hot coals. One word..yum

  53. Gabriela

    Low cook is what temperature?

  54. Carol

Could i use soy milk to replace the fat free milk??

  55. Julie

This is the first time I have tried a crock pot dessert. It was wonderful. We just got back from an all-inclusive in Mexico and loved the food and desserts. My husbands comment was 'this is Mexico wonderdul' - now that is compliment.

  56. cheryl

    1

Are you kidding? the bottom "crust" was solid and uncooked (yes I followed instructions" - the berries ended up on top, basically inedible in the intended form.

  57. Jenna

This recipe looked yummy and easy, but did not turn out well. It was edible, but took more than twice as long to cook the dough through. At that point, the dough was tough and the rest was watery mush. I would not make this again.

  58. Mel

    5

How much does this make? About the same as 13x9 in pan or more like a 9in cake pan??

  59. Penny

My neighbor gave me around 3 pounds of blueberries. I've never made a blueberry cobbler .. Make it!!!! It's amazing especially when it's still warm!!!!! ??

  60. patidee

unbelievable that so many people left a comment on HOW IT LQQKS but nobody (so far - I'll be back to review after I've ACTUALLY made it) has made it ... I can't think of anything MORE ridiculous!!!

  61. patidee

okay so this morning I made the Slow Cooker Berry Cobbler. very easy. had a few Strawberries so tossed them in the berry mixture. after 3hours the CAKE was still not cooked; berries were delicious and not over sweet [substituted a Splenda mix of 1/2 real sugar when coating the berries) ... the cake was kind of MEALY and probably would have tasted pretty good if cooked, but uncooked it was not great. I wouldn't make it again, nor would I recommend this recipe.

  62. Doug

You should have mentioned in the recipe that if you're using frozen berries, they should be thawed first. The Taste of Home version mentions that.

  63. Lisa C

Made this last night. Added an extra 1/4 cup of milk and 2 Tblsp of margarine....with frozen berries, cooked on low for 3 hours. It turned out great!

  64. halie

how many servings are in the berry cobbler? I was wanting to make this for about 8 people. would that be enough?

  65. Sharon Moake

Can this be made in a 6 qt crock-pot without adjusting the recipe? I think I would also maybe want to use a slow cooker liner to make it easier cleanup.

  66. JennFred

Had to freeze this due to cancelled party...any suggestions on warming up? Think it will be okay??

  67. Helen

    2

Did not cook in 2 hours on low using frozen berries. 1.5 hours on high.

  68. Bonnie Windsor

This recipe is definitely a keeper. I didn't use any substitutions and the cobbler was perfect. I can imagine making it with peaches when peach season arrives.
