Cooking Insights- Tip #2- What I Know About Converting Measurements

Today, I am going to share a little bit of what I know about converting measurements.  I don’t know about you, but there have been times when I go to make a recipe up and realize some of my measuring instruments are dirty or not available.  I know most of us won’t be using 16 Tablespoons in substitution for 1 cup, but some of the others I have definitely used!  I made up some quick and simple conversions to help you out if your ever in need!

Last up, I want to show you the chart I am constantly using in my head when converting liquids.  I learned this chart in elementary school and it has stuck with me ever since.  I can’t tell you how many times this chart has come in handy!

G = Gallon

Q = Quart

P = Pint

C = Cup

In 1 gallon there are 4 quarts, 8 pints, 16 cups

In one quart there are 2 pints and 4 cupsIn one pint there are 2 cups…You get the jest of it!

I hope these conversions are able to help you if you ever find yourself in a tight spot in the kitchen!

If you make this recipe, snap a photo and hashtag it #chefintraining and/or #chefintrainingblog. I would love to see how these recipes take shape in your kitchens.

    I teach third grade and we use this picture to teach these measurements. We call it Gallon Land. It has 4 Queens, who have 2 Princesses, who have 2 Crowns each. The kids can easily remember this story to help them draw this picture!;)
