This looks so yummy and refreshing on a warm summer day. I think I may double the topping and place some between the layers. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Carole

is the crushed pineapple mixed up with the sour cream and pudding?

    1. Chef in Training

yes it is! It is DELISH! Hope you like it :)

    2. Missi

I did mix them when I made it

    3. Nancyvollberg

ICould you use another flavor pudding? I don't like banana.

  8. Roberta

How much of each fruit goes into the recipe?

  9. Maggie

I made this, but used only a few fruits that were on sale at the store... absolutely delicious! Love this recipe... thanks for the inspiration!

I just stubbled across this recipe because I was looking for a fruit side dish. All looks great but the only thing is I whisked the milk, pudding (i didnt prepare it, which I dont think I was supposed to), sour cream and crushed pineapple and my topping is all runny. Not clumpy and wouldnt stay on top of the fruit like it shows in your picture. Did I do something wrong by chance?? Thank you!

    1. Deanna

Maybe its supposed to refrigerate a few hours before??

    2. barb

Probley should drain pineapples very well before adding.

    3. Missi

I actually just made this. I didn't drain the crushed pineapple but added another 1/2 package of dried banana pudding in order to make it thick enough and I stuck in fridge for 1/2 hour before topping so it was thick.

    4. Jan J

Did you perhaps use regular pudding instead of instant? That would not thicken correctly.

  11. Vicki

Looks delish.... question... does the milk go in with the fruit or is it mixed with the sour cream, pineapple, and pudding mix?

  12. Iris

    Looks yummm, thanks for sharing.

  13. Minette

Perfect for these hot Florida days! Made this for a birthday dinner and everyone raved about how wonderful it was

  14. Cyn

  15. Jen

Hello! I was directed here from Pinterest! This looks divine - I will definitely be making this soon! Thanks for sharing with us. :)

Also I was wondering what font you used for the word 'fruit' ?

  16. Karen

I made this with coconut cream pudding and added coconut to it....delish!

    1. Gene

Yes it is UK banana custard

  17. Camilla

Hiya! Please could you tell me what banana cream pudding is? Is it like banana custard. I don't think we have that in the uk. This looks amazing!! Xx

    1. Chef in Training

Its a little box package of Jello Instant pudding. It is a dry powder mix and then you add it with the remaining topping ingredients. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

  18. Terry

    Do you drain the pineapple?

    1. Chef in Training

      Yes, drain the pineapple juice.

  19. Colleen

This looks amazing.. How do you keep the fruit from turning brown?

  20. Tina

I made this and its really runny, would not set on top of fruit just ran all over. There must be something wrong with the measurements. Disappointing!

    1. Shelli

The topping was runny. Didn't come out like your picture at all. Should I have made the pudding then added the other ingredients?

  21. manal

I love it soooooo much ... yuuummmmmy mmmmmh

  22. Jeanine

Can I use something else besides pineapple for topping? I can't have pineapple.

  23. Rachel

I bet the cheesecake pudding would be great too

  24. Bev

Instead of sour cream can you use cool whip? I'm not sure that I would like the taste of sour cream with fruit. I have had another recipe with fruit, but they didn't have the puddding in it, but they had the sour cream and I didn't like the taste.

Sour cream is amazingly delicious with fruit! The fruit gives it a little sweetness and has a great consistency.

  25. Shelli

Was good but topping was runny. Maybe should use a mixer instead of whisking?

  26. rocky haggard

where is the pin it sign ?

  27. Vicki

It is delicious, so do you drain the crushed pineapple juice?

  28. kiersten

I made this today and didnt add the bananas in feat of them turning brown. Will they turn if i add them?

  29. kelly smith

Wondering how this would be if you used vanilla pudding instead of banana cream pudding? Not a big fan of banana pudding.

    1. Chef in Training

that would be delicious! I am going to have to try it like that next time!

  30. Elayne

This looks Amazing. Got to try it! Pinned it!

When I made it the first time I make the mistake to by the vanilla pudding instead of the bananas. Well needless to said it turn out as good as the banana pudding.

I agree with some of the other people, the topping was VERY RUNNY! And I panicked because I had made this for the first time for company. I ran to the supermarket and bought some cool whip and just mixed a few spoon fulls of the banana mixture into the cool whip as a quick fix. It was still yummy but next time Ill have to do something about this topping!

  33. Arlene

Do you need to drain the pineapple?

  34. Pat

The layered fruit looks good, but I think I would mix the fruit so the servings would contain a mixture of the fruit. I think layering some of the topping with the fruit would be good. I will try this!

    This looks delicious, saving it

  36. Nicki

You could also make the topping with whipped topping, crushed pineapple and instant pudding. Just defrost the whipped topping and fold in the pudding mix and the pineapple. Sets up really well and has a great fluffy consistancy. Also if you don't like banana, it would also be yummy with coconut pudding

  37. Bonita

Can't wait to make this. My grandkids will love it.

  38. Kathleen

Has anyone tried fat free, sugar free for topping ingredients?

  39. Pat Biolo

awesome summer dessert and so easy..........

  40. Diana Melnyk

Do you drain the pineapple or not??

  41. Laine

What if you only can find the non-instant pudding?

  42. Nicole

This was delicious. It has been added to my "keepers" board on Pinterest. I didn't have trouble with the topping being runny like some have said. Thanks for the post!
