Crock Pot Hawaiian Pineapple Chicken

I got this recipe from my friend Elyse. I was just browsing one morning and saw this meal that looked fairly simple to make. I had all the ingredients on hand so I decided to try it! I LOVE crock pot meals! They make dinner so simple and delicious! This meal is very flavorful and my husband loved it! I served mine over rice.

Crock Pot Hawaiian Pineapple Chicken

4 frozen chicken breasts
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. teriyaki sauce
1 can pineapple chunks, drain half the juice out
Crushed red pepper flakes

Spray the crock pot with nonstick cooking spray and add chicken breasts.  Stir soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and pineapple chunks (with half of the juice) together.
Pour over the chicken. Sprinkle as many red pepper flakes on top as desired.
Cook on high for 4-6 hours.
Shred chicken with two forks in the crock pot and serve over rice.
You can also save some of the sauce if you like it a little bit more saucy and drizzle it over rice and chicken.

Enjoy!

This may sound so silly, but I loathe cooking chicken in my crockpot because of it sticking. And reading, "Spray the crock pot with nonstick cooking spray " may have just changed my life. :)

Thanks so much for following me from the bloghop! I just GFC'd you as well and can't wait to keep up!

I am currently cooking this in the crock pot right now! I actually added onions and red peppers so we will see how it turns out! Thanks for sharing your great recipes!

Made this last night it was a hit with the whole family!! I cooked it on the stove top not the crock pot and it turned out great. I used low sodium soy sauce and the salt level was perfect.

@Kimberly- I know exactly what you mean!! I made this last night, not only was it wonderful, but the crockpot literally just wiped clean- amazing!

I made this a few weeks ago, as the recipe is listed about, and it was good. I found it a bit salty and overly sweet (I may have put too much pineapple juice in), but it was still quite good, and it got my mind working on how to tweak this to my personal taste. Well, I implemented those tweaks today, and it was so good, I thought I'd share: First of all, I only used used 1/4 cup of low sodium soy sauce. I also added in a small white onion chopped into large chunks. To amp up the heat factor, I put in a few squirts of Sriracha chili sauce and was generous with the red pepper flake. I find that simmering the Teriyaki sauce this long really brings out the sweetness of it, so all this spice really didn't make the dish overly hot at all. Also, I really like pineapple, so I added about 3/4 of the juice. I served this over jasmine rice and it's just divine!! Amazingly good - I will definitely be making this again!

Did you defrost the chicken breasts first, or just put them in frozen? Thanks! Can't wait to try this :)

Didn't like this one at all. My oldest daughter who is NOT picky asked if I would NOT make this again. I didn't blame her. Much too salty! Now I have all this leftover soy flavored chicken and I am trying to figure out how to tie it into another meal. Any ideas? We still like lots of others though! Thanks for your blog.

Hi! Thank you so much for providing us with so many wonderful recipes. I am addicted to your blog!!! One question I have on this recipe. It calls for cooking 4 - 6 hours on high. Should it be 4 - 6 hours on low instead? Can't wait to try it!!! Keep up the great work!
