Fast and Easy Hot Onion Dip

This dip is incredible! When I saw it on Millions of Miles, I knew I HAD to give it a try!  I seriously whipped it up in no time.  My husband came home from work and basically pounded the whole thing himself (he is skinny and can totally do things like that…jealous).  After finishing it off, he told me to make sure I put this recipe on the “hubby favorites.”  So here you have it, a delicious, easy, fast, and people pleaser dip. Make it for your next party and I guarantee you people will rave about it!

Fast and Easy Hot Onion Dip… This dip is AMAZING! Even those who have tried it who don't normally care for onions LOVE this dip!

I've been making this for several years. The recipe was given to me by a good friend. It is awesome! Whenever I take it to a party, I come home with an empty dish and requests for the recipe.

Question: is it 8oz TOTAL of cream cheese, or 3x8oz = 24 oz total? 24oz would be a LOT of cream cheese... like nearly 3 blocks, so I hope that's not the answer :)

    Looks amazing though

When I make this dip, I use the frozen chopped onions that are in the frozen food aisle. I let them thaw in rge refrigerator. This dip is so yummy!!!

What is the best type of onion to use?

    1. Chef in Training

      I use a sweet onion

  12. Rebekah

Can you use reduced fat cream cheese? Will it hold up the same in the recipe? Thanks!

I made this for a cocktail party I recently had, and everyone went nuts for it! They are still talking about it days later.

It is easy to make, inexpensive, and most importantly it is YUMMY!

I now have a signature appetizer to bring to parties; thank you!

  15. Sue

Could you please tell me about how much onion to chop?

  16. Stefanie

Question.... is it 24oz cream cheese or 8oz? Just wanted to clarify.... thanks!

    1. Chef in Training

24 oz. sorry for the confusion. fixed that in the recipe now to clarify better :)

This dip is unbelieveably good. I make it for gatherings all the time and people rave over it. Tomorrow, for my Halloween party, I'm doubling the recipe and putting it in the crockpot instead of the oven. I'll let you know how it turns out.

  18. Meaghan Grabowski

Hey! This looks great! I want to make it for a party, but I'd have to do it about 24 hours in advance and heat it up. Will this keep well, or is it more of an eat-soon-after-making thing?

    Thanks!

I follow the same recipe but I add a tablespoon of old bay to the mix. Everyone in my family loves it. (Even the in-laws lol)
