Not only does this resemble a festive flag, but will be one of the tastiest treats you ever make! The cream layer paired with the buttery puff pastry and fresh fruit combine for one heavenly dessert!
- 1 box puff pastry {2 sheets}, thawed to room temperature
Cream Cheese Filling
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- ⅓ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon Almond Extract
- ⅓ cup blueberries
- 1½ cups raspberries
Frosting
- 1¼ cup powdered sugar
- 6 Tablespoons Heavy Cream
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Line cookie sheet with parchment paper and open pastry and place one sheet on the cookie sheet. With a small roller smooth out the creases. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sugar and almond extract together until well blended. Spread on top of pastry sheet.
- Place blueberries in the upper left corner for the blue part of the flag. Open the other pastry sheet and cut 7 (1/2 inch-3/4 inch) strips and place them in stripes on the flag, making sure to leave about a 1 inch space between each strip. For the two stripes by the blueberries, trim them as necessary to fit. They will be smaller than the others in length.
- Place the raspberries in between the pastry stripes to make the red stripes.
- With the remaining dough cut small stars and place over the blueberries.
- Bake at 375 degrees F and bake for 25-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Frosting
- Place all the frosting ingredients in a small mixing bowl and mix well.
- Drizzle over the warm pastry and serve.
- Can also be served room temperature.
