Oreo Rice Krispie Treats

I went home to visit my parents a few weeks ago and pleasantly walked into these bad boys sitting on the counter top.

As if rice krispie treats weren’t delicious enough, the Oreos add the perfect touch of flavor and texture to jazz up this basic treat. My husband, a die hard Oreo fanatic, could not get these in his mouth fast enough. They could possible be his new favorite treat.

My mom came across this recipe form Glorious Treats and now it is here to stay. We love it.

Oreo Rice Krispie Treats

This recipe is amazing. The Oreos give this classic recipe the new perfect spin.
Recipe type: Dessert
Ingredients
  • 6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 20 Regular Oreos, chopped
  • 5 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • white chocolate for drizzle, optional
Instructions
  1. Spray a 9x13 dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, pour measured Rice Krispie Cereal.
  3. Chop and mash Oreos. You can do this by putting them in a ziplock bag to help keep the mess under control. You want the Oreos to be a variety of sizes from chunky to finely crushed.
  4. Add Oreos to Rice Krispy cereal and stir to combine.
  5. In a medium sauce pan, heat butter and marshmallows together over medium heat, stirring constantly, until they melt together.
  6. Pour melted marshmallows over cereal and oreos and use a spatula sprayed with non-stick cooking spray to quickly combine all the ingredients.
  7. As soon as all the cereal is combined, spread mixture into the prepared 9×13″ dish. Use the spatula to press the mixture around the dish, and flatten as needed.
  8. Let sit until completely cooled. NOTE: When the rice kris pie treats and cooled I drizzled mine with some white chocolate and let it set until it hardened for a pretty finish.

Enjoy!

Rice Krispies can do no wrong! They're my favorite treat, though I never make them--what gives?! Anyway, this Oreo version looks fantastic. I can imagine swapping some of the flavored Oreos would be just as tasty!

  5. Kate

Few things are as good as rice krispie treats I could eat them everyday! But these look totally divine! Wow you just totally made me wish I didn't finish off the last of the double stuffed oreos last night!

  6. Karly

I could put an Oreo in anything and eat it, but rice krispie treats? Heck yeah.

I made these for my boyfriend's family last weekend for a
pizza party. They were a hit!

This recipe is the original rice krispies bar recipe with about 2 cups of oreo cookies added to it. That's just fine if you like your bars very hard and crunchy. If you want it to have the original chewy texture then you will have to reduce the amount of rice krispies to 4 cups of instead of 6.

  12. Karen

These look so good. I can't wait to make them for my daughter.

  13. Michelle Crowder

Pretty sure this would count as first-degree murder, because this is going to KILL my diet!

  14. Mel K.

Just made this great recipe. I did need to add extra butter, to have a nice chewy texture.
    Thanks for sharing!

I MUST try these. I have great little plastic molds to shape the Treats.....I think these will go over great at Halloween for gifts.

  17. Olivia

I made two BIG batches with these because i doubled the recipe... They were all gone in one night...

  18. Sue

These did not turn out good, way to dry, needs more butter and marshmallows

  19. Brianna

I made these and they were excellent. The I only used 4 cups of marshmallow. I would use 5 like in the instructions. also, i only used 15 Oreos. It's turned out good:)

  20. Abby

Hi, if i didnt want to use marshamallows, what could I use instead? For vegetarians?

  21. Selina Xu

How many people does this recipe serve for?

  22. Louise

How does 5 cups mini marshmallows equate to regular sized marshmallows.

    1. Cathy o

The 5 cups of mini was the entire bag

  23. Somer

Rice Krispy treats are a favorite of my boys n mine, we have made so many different kinds adding all sorts of different candies n cookies.... Oreos r one of
    our favorites!!

  24. Linda plants

Very good. However, the white chocolate drizzle just breaks off when cut into serving pieces. I would prob leave that off next time.

Would I be able to make these Vegan by omitting the butter and marshmallows? Or use vegan marshmallows? Thank you! :)

How would you make this using the marshmallow creme in the tubs ie: how many ounces of marshmallows vs marshmallow cream?

  30. Kelly

    Hi,
I was wondering, is it possible to replace the marshmallows with marshmallow creme/fluff? If so, how much?

    Thank you,
    Zubin

  32. Moe

Do you use the inside of the Oreo to make this or just the cookie

    1. Chef in Training

      the whole cookie :)

  33. Breanna

Just made these today. I'm not sure if I did something wrong but I had to almost double the amount of marshmallows to get them to look like the pictures. They tasted great though!

I made these last night and found out "old" marshmallows and microwave do not work too well for the task! So, had a 7 ounce of "fluff" and heated that with about 3+ tablespoons of butter and added 2 cups of mini-marshmallows. The 20 Oreos after crushing was about 2 cups as someone else mentioned so I only used 4 cups of cereal. Nice texture and firm enough to cut easily. I will definitely make them again. Thanks for sharing! Oh -- lining the pan with parchment paper works great!

  35. Grayson Daniel

Me and my boyfriend just made them and we love them! We both love rice Krispy treats and Oreos make them even better. Instead of using white chocolate to drizzle over the top, we took the icing out of the Oreos and just crush the cookie and melted the icing to drizzle on top and it worked just fine!

has anyone tried making rice crispy treats with the flavored marshmellows? my grandkids love the ones i make with the pumpkin flavored ones, they are also big fans of strawberry and chocolate. have you ever tried using cheerios instead of rice crispies. same procedure. the multigrain cheerios are the best!!
