This 7 Minute Frosting dates way back. It is actually a recipe my grandma has been using since my mom was very little. It has been in our family for decades! This is how my grandma makes hers and the proportions she uses and it is FABULOUS! I got it from those cookbooks of her’s that she passed down to all the grandchildren. It is actually my mom’s favorite frosting, probably because it is associated with so many memories of hers growing up.

Most of you have probably heard about this delicious frosting before. It is simple and gets its name from the length of time needed beat and cook. It truly is such a fabulous recipe and one you should definitely try out!

7 Minute Frosting

Author:
Ingredients
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
  • 5 egg whites
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
  1. Fill the bottom half of a double boiler about half way with water and heat to a boil.
  2. Combine sugar, corn syrup, egg whites, and salt in the top pan of a double boiler and beat until just combined (about a 30 seconds to 1 minute).
  3. Place on top pan on top of the bottom double boiler filled with the boiling water, making sure that the water is not touching the bottom of the top double boiler.
  4. Beat on medium-high speed for 7 minutes while frosting cooks. Frosting should become thickened and have a glossy appearance. Allow frosting to cool before using.

Enjoy!
