Homemade Meatballs with Sweet and Tangy Sauce

This recipe comes from my sister and is one of her family’s favorites. She recently made it and told me I had to try some. I was a little hesitant because I am normally not a big meatball fan, but I decided I had better give it a try if it is as good as she said it was… end result… it is amazing! The flavor of this sauce is absolutely wonderful and compliments the meatballs perfectly!

If you need a new dinner idea, give this one a try!

I want to put that sweet and tangy sauce on everything! That right there is totally up my alley!

Any other suggestions for something other than oats? Breadcrumbs or Panko, maybe??

Janel...when I make meatloaf, I never use oats (nothing against them, I just don't have any most of the time). I always use crushed saltine crackers. In a pinch, I've been known to use crushed Ritz crackers, too. LOL And, I did use bread once. I put a few slices in the food processor and pulsed them up to make fine crumbs. I've never tried Panko, but I think that sounds good, too.

This sounds delicious!! I'm gonna make two batches....one for us using this recipe, as listed, and one for my parents. My daddy can't eat anything that's too hot or spicy. Anyone have a suggestion for something to switch out the chili sauce? I think I'll try crushed tomatoes with the recipe?? I think it could work.

What is chili sauce? Actual chili from a can, or is there a brand name I might recognize? Thanks:)

It is found next to the ketchup- It comes in a bottle. I use the Heinz brand. I hope this helps :)

I can't wait to try these…do you think they could be made in the crockpot instead? Recommendations on setting and time? Thanks!

I only needed a tangy sauce for my meatballs this time and it was delicious. The leftover sauce was funneled back into the chili sauce jar for future use. I actually ended up using it with a small amount of mayo for a Shrimp Louie Salad and just gotta say WOW! Can't wait for my next turn at the ladies luncheon to prepare it. Really outstanding!
