The BEST Banana Bread

Sometimes you happen across a recipe that you personally feel is “The Best.” I do not take this term lightly. Typically when I deem something to be “the best” it has been compared to others and has triumphed. This banana bread recipe is just that. I adapted a recipe I found at AllRecipes because I love the flavor of brown sugar and vanilla and felt these two ingredients could really jazz up the original recipe.

The flavor of the dough (yes I could eat it by the spoonful) and bread is insanely delicious and the bread is so moist and has the perfect texture. I ALWAYS have bananas that have reached a point of sweetness that my kiddos will no longer eat them plain and need a recipe to be used up within. Banana Bread has been made at my house often and I couldn’t believe there wasn’t already a recipe on my blog for one yet. I was a little shocked actually.

So here you have it, my favorite banana bread recipe. You will have to try it out and let me know what you think and how it compares to yours.

The BEST Banana Bread on chef-in-training... This recipe has been put to the test and really is THE BEST! It is SO delicious! #recipe #bread

My recipe is almost identical (I use equal amounts of each sugar) and I agree that it is the best! Then I tweaked it a bit with even better results. Now I replace 2 tablespoons of the vegetable oil with coconut oil which is a fantastic dough enhancer. That little change takes this bread from the best to perfect.

    1. Alvaro

      Great idea !!

well, im not a fan of banana bread, but - i had buttermilk (from making butter) sitting in the fridge since thanksgiving four weeks ago that was culturing nicely...
i made 4 loaves using the equal parts sugar as suggested and the coconut oil. i must say, this is pretty darn good :) i have enough buttermilk to make 4 more loaves. the only thing i missed was "something of interest" in the bread and so next time i will add toasted walnuts.

I love banana bread and have at least 10+ different recipes for it on my site but I have a go-to recipe that most of the others are based from). Buttermilk, oil (not butter), and nice ripe bananas like you used are keys to soft, moist bread! Glad you have your "best of" recipe!

    1. Rie

how many ripe bananas do you approximately need to measure 1 cup?

      TIA,

      Rie

    2. Chef in Training

2-3 bananas depending on their size :)

    3. Diana

      2 bananas

  3. sally @ sallys baking addiction

If you say it is the best, it HAS to be the best Nikki! I love banana bread and have tried so many different recipes. I found one I don't stray too far from these days but am always up for trying new kinds! I love finding that "best" recipe for breads, cookies, brownies, etc!!! Yours looks amazing, as usual. ;)

  4. Gloria @ Simply Gloria

I purposely let my bananas get a little over ripe...JUST so I can bake something with them. But I have to say Banana Bread is absolutely my favorite! Now I can make THIS recipe with my (already) over-ripened bananas!

    1. KC

Tip -- so you don't have to "wait" ... when my bananas start to go brown, I put them in a ziplock baggie (leave them in their skins!). Then place the baggie in the freezer (3 - 4 will fit in a quart size freezer bag). Then whenever I'm ready to back, just set the ziplock baggie on the counter for an hour to defrost.

  5. Jeannie

I didn't have buttermilk so I substituted coconut greek yogurt. I used coconut oil as well. It gave it a very tropical taste. It took about an hour and 15 minutes to bake. Thank you!!

  6. Amy

Everyone loves banana bread!! My go-to recipe is very similar - I like to swap half the oil for yogurt. I love experimenting with different flavors using the classic recipe, like adding coconut, pineapple, dates, peanut butter or bourbon for a fun twist. Just waiting for some bananas to over-ripen for another loaf!

  7. Ann

Did you add any nuts or anything not listed? The picture looks like thier is dark pieces in the bread, maybe finely chopped nuts? Don't see anything in the indreg. list to account or that. It looks yummy and I love banana bred. Thanks

  8. carrian

ohhhh, I love that it uses buttermilk!

  9. Jaclyn

We must have similar taste in food, I made banana bread the same day =). Yours looks delicious! Banana bread is the best, it's such a classic.

  10. Stacey

Ok, I was skeptical at first, but this bread is REALLY good!!! I even replaced half the oil with applesauce and it was still fantastic! This recipe is definitely a keeper .... but I DO recommend adding some chocolate chips though :)

  11. Jennifer

Turned out amazing. I didn't have brown sugar or hand so I replaced it with granulated sugar, added a teaspoon of cinnamon and a cup of chocolate chips. Baked for 55 mins. Absolutely the best!

  12. Denise

Now sprinkle the top with a sugar and cinnamon mix....

    1. Sylvia

I used 3/4 cup of organic cane sugar and still plenty sweet! I also used half unbleached nutri wheat flour and half spelt. I'm gluten sensitive so when baking for my kids, like adding quality flour. I also used olive oil in this recipe. It did turn our really good...thanks!! :)

  13. Laurie

About how many bananas does it take to get 1 cup of mashed banana? Probably a dumb question but I don't really like them so I've never cooked/baked with them before. I'm trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies in to my diet so I thought this would be a good place to start, when it comes to bananas anyway.

    1. Chef in Training

its about 2-3 bananas, depending on their size.

    2. Briana

I always bake mine with aluminum foil on it for the first hour and take it off for the last 15-20 minutes or so try that :)! Since it is in the oven for so long @325. Never failis to make awesome moist banan bread with a crispy top!

  14. Trysha

The recipe is wonderful but I find it's too much batter for one pan. It took closer to 90 minutes to bake than an hour and was too brown for my liking, not to mention there was no rise.. Switching to 2, 8 x 4 pans. Next time. And there WILL be a next time. :)

  15. Diana

Thanks for sharing this really is the best banana bread ever!! my family and friends loved it!!!

  16. Haley

Found this through Pinterest. I have made it twice now and it is a winner! Moist and delicious. Thanks for sharing.

  17. Margie

Wow! I made this banana bread last night and I have to say it is the best I have ever had so far. I have tried/made several different ones, but this one is the moistest and most flavorful banana bread ever. It's got a delicate cake type of texture to it. I usually put either nuts, cranberry and Coconut flakes, but this time I skipped all of these. My 17-year old son does not like nuts on his banana bread so he loved it! Thank you for sharing this recipe...

  18. Kiran

Hi there! Since there is massive allergies towards eggs in my family, how can i substitute the eggs in tgis recipe.
    Thanks!

    1. neva

Applesauce instead of eggs. I buy the small container so as not to waste.

  19. Erica

Tried this bread tonight and I'm sad to say it wasn't yummy. I was really looking forward to it since it says it's the best. It's too moist, to the point where it didn't seem cooked even after and hour and 20 min. of baking. It was greasy and dense and the flavor just wasn't there for me. Gave some to my husband, daughter, mom, and dad and they all agree with me. I have an amazingly good banana bread recipe, it's been the only one I've used up until now, safe to safe I'll be going back to my my fave.

  20. Tuqa

This really was amazing i made it last night and when i poured the batter in the pan i put dollups of nutella and just worked it in the batter with the knife and it is sooo yumm

  21. cindy

I made this bread as a trial, and man is it GREAT....then I misplaced the recipe while cleaning and decorating for Christmas. I left a message on Facebook and no one had a copy, so I looked into my "favorites" on my computer and 'lo and behold !!! I am so Happy, I plan on including this bread in my goodie boxes for friends and co-workers. Thanks for the yummy recipe, now I will share it with me "friends" on Facebook so that they may enjoy this too !!!!!!

  22. Alexandra

I have to admit that I am banana bread's biggest fan and I have tried over 10 recipes just to get a loaf to taste like this one did!!! Woah..I LOVE this recipe..and Pinterest for guiding me to it! This really is The BEST Banana Bread, good work! :)

  23. Candy C.

Thanks for sharing this lovely recipe. I was looking for one using buttermilk and found yours through a search. It is wonderful! :)

  24. meera

I tried this recipe. It is very spongy and tastes very good. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

  25. Barbara

Almost the same as mine and I've won awards with it. However, I use plain yogurt and 2 previously frozen bananas. Freezing the overripe ones increase the sugar content and break down the texture to a more pudding-like consistency.
Still one of my favorite foods!

  26. Judy Newnum

I added 3/4-1 cup crushed pineapple to this recipe-YUM

  27. Alena

Made it yesterday and it was great. I am making poppy seed one today and will use this recepe. Thanks!

  28. Jan

I always sprinkle about a 1/4 cup of brown sugar on top before I bake it...

  29. Cindy

Sometimes I add 1 (8oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained to my Banana Bread recipe. It's really good! I need to try 1 loaf using your recipe and 1 loaf using your recipe with the crushed pineapple. I use milk in my recipe- the buttermilk sounds really good. Can't wait to try this! Thanks for sharing!

  30. Zaakierah

Thanks for the above recipe! Would that be plain flour or selfraising? And is it Baking powder or bicarbinate soda? I know the recipe I previously had called for bicarb soda? Thanks in advance..

    1. Anna

      Soda

I must agree, this is the BEST Banana Bread I have tried thus far. Thank You, Nikki! Looking forward to try out more recipes from your site! Cheers!

    Hi Nikki,

this banana bread is outstanding! I agree with you that the taste and texture are perfect! I have had rave reviews when I served it to guests recently. I did make a few changes and they are: 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup of brown sugar and added 1/2 cup of hemp seeds for added protein. Thank you!

  33. Yasmine

I usually don't write reviews but this recipe is so good, I want to. I tried many recipes with no luck. I made this, didn't even check oven till 1hr mark. Top was brown but middle was so mushy. I tinted it with foil and baked it 30 more minutes. Usually u have to rest the loaf. I'm pregnant and I immediately cut a piece piping hot. it is so good. next time I'm gonna add nuts or choc chips. Thanks for sharing this recipe, it'll be my go to recipe.

  34. Karen

Absolutely delicious! Moist, full of flavour & simply the best!!!!! Thank you for sharing this simple yet gorgeous recipe

This is the best banana bread that I've ever baked or tasted. I added Toll House chocolate chunks and chopped walnuts to mine. It is dense so it does need to cook longer. I made it two different times. The first time it took almost an hour and a half. During the last half hour I covered the ends with tin foil to keep it from getting too brown. I also lowered the temperature. Once I felt it was cooked through, I turned the oven off and let it sit for an extra 5 minutes. It was scrumdilyicious.
The second time I made it, I divided the batter between a regular loaf pan and a mini loaf pan. The mini loaf took approximately 45 minutes and the regular loaf pan approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. I did cover the ends of the regular loaf with tin foil during the last 20 minutes and I lowered the temperature somewhat. When I thought it was completely done, I turned off the oven and left it in there an extra 5 minutes. I also melted some chocolate and peanut butter with a little vegerable oil and iced my loaves. My husband loved it too and now I won't be so quick to throw over ripe bananas away. Thank you for this recipe...

I have made tis recipe a number of times and i always modify it with different fruits & nuts.Yesterday i made it with Mandarin oranges minus the juice and it came out just wonderful. This recipe is so good that you can use any fruit and or any nuts. Thanks for sharing this great recipe. P.S. I am going to make one today using fresh cooked pumpkin.Wish me luck.

  37. Jillian

We love banana bread too! I like to add some banana chunks and walnuts or pecans for added texture!! Delish!

  38. Annette Garcia

Oh my goodness.....made this banana bread. It was soooo good.

  39. Connie

What do you recommend instead of buttermilk? My husband doesn't like buttermilk so it ends up not getting used.

  40. Awilda E Canelo

The recipes for the best Banana Bread, on the list of ingredients I do not see any nuts nor carrots. But on the picture you posted of the bread I see little pieces of something orange and some pieces of nuts. Is the recipe complete or are we missing ingredients on your list.

  41. Amanny

if i wanted to use butter instead of veggie oil how would that work?

  42. Ray S

I just bought some bananas to make banana bread. Do you think I can make muffins and would it come out as moist as in a loaf?

  43. Gwen M

I will have to try this recipe! I love Banana Bread and I have several go to recipes. I will have to say the last new recipe was OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS!!! It was from Ree Drummond~The Pioneer Woman! It went to the top of my recipes, very moist and delicious, I had never made one with sour cream in it, oh my gosh it was good, and it raised wonderfully! Can't wait to try this when my nana's go brown!

  44. carmen

Can I substitute buttermilk for table cream?

  45. Michele

    5

I never comment on these things, but felt I had to with this bread. You are telling the truth when you say it's the best! I've made it twice this week, and I'm not really a huge fan of most banana breads. It is really delicious. I'm always afraid to overbake things, and when it took an hour and 15 minutes for the toothpick to come out clean, and the top was extremely brown (because I didn't do the foil tent until after the hour mark) I was worried the bread would be dry. But it was so moist, and the crust had this carmelized, chewy texture that was YUMMY! The end pieces were even great- almost like a cookie-bread hybrid :) Thanks for this recipe! It's the only one I'll use in the future. Oh- BTW, I never have buttermilk, so I put a tablespoon of lemon juice into a scant cup of skim milk and let it set for 10 minutes. Then I took the 1/3 cup from that, chunks and all.

  46. Jennifer

Allergic to dairy - What do you recommend besides buttermilk? Thanks

    1. April

make your own diary free..... 1 tablespoon lemon juice and a cup of your choice df milk. My favorite is full fat coconut milk

  47. Emma

What is the calorie count? Thanks!

  48. Gina

I have used the same delicious banana bread recipe for the past 10 years, but, I saw this recipe on Facebook and decided to try it. This recipe IS the BEST! It is absolutely delicious! My husband and son kept going back for more, and in fact, devoured an entire loaf in one evening! They both thank you for the "best banana bread ever"!!

  49. Carol

    3

I love this recipe! I made the third loaf last night. I use vanilla yogurt instead of buttermilk; banana yogurt wasn't as good. It bakes 90 min but I tented the last loaf and ut was done in 60 min. This recioe is a keeper!

  50. Kristen

Tried and true several times! I keep experimenting with a dollop of sour cream and 1/4 cup applesauce as well. Delicious!

  51. afaaf

Hi I don't have butter milk kindly post me recipe of butter milk and may I ask why is butter milk used.what's the function of it.

  52. Linda

    5

Just made this today...awesome....also made the chocolate banana bread recipe. Very...very good~~~~

  53. Gail

I have looked for a good recipe for a while now. Both my husband and I have made this one a couple of times since we first saw it and absolutely love it. This is now our "go to" recipe. Thank you!

  54. Carole

Is there a way to make banana bread into muffins? I need to make a breakfast food for an event tomorrow, muffins might be easier to hand out. But this bread looks great.

  55. Marcia Smith

I haven't baked the banana bread yet but I can tell by the ingredients that is going to be a great tasting and moist bread. Can't wait for my bananas to get real ripe. Num num.

  56. Diana

I doubled the ingredients and made two loaves this evening. This is the BEST banana bread I have ever eaten or made. 5 huge stars from me. Your modifications made this bread perfect.

  57. Paula

I have made it 4 times this week.
    Very good!!
My husband likes his g'mas recipe but admits this is pretty good :)
    I give it 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  58. maria

  60. Renee

    5

Made this and it was excellent. My husband said it was the best banana bread he ever had. Thank-you for the recipe. I'm going to try more of your recipes.

    1. Atiqa Gul

what is the recipe of buttermilk?

    2. Linda

Substitution for buttermilk in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook is: Mix 1 Tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice into 1 cup milk and let sit for 5 minutes. I only had 1 per cent milk and it worked fine.

  61. Angela Massis

I would love to make this in a Bundt Pan. Not sure of the measurements though.

  62. mariejoy

Hi i havent tried baking banana bread and i always wanted to try one and i wanted it to perfect:) and i wanted ur recipe, unfortunately couldnt find buttermilk inmy place, is freshmilk or evaporated milk could b a substitute? Tnx

  63. Luisa

    5

Love this recipe! As I was getting ready to make it for a second time, I realized I had no buttermilk. I didn't google alternatives and decided to use condensed milk. I also used 1/4c apple sauce and 1/4c coconut oil instead of vegetable oil. The result was incredible! It was deliciously moist and flavorful.

  64. Sallie

What kind of flour did you use? And I love your site!

    1. Chef in Training

I use all purpose :) And thank you so much! I am glad you are enjoying it!

  65. Lisa

I liked it but it was a little too sweet. Between the sweetness of the very ripe bananas & the amount of sugar in this recipe, I'm not surprised. Next time, I think I'll cut way back. I made enough for family & friends so I'll have to get some feedback.

  66. Ally Jones

    5

Hey do you think it would still be a good recipe if one added chocolate chips to the recipe?

  67. Susan Portelli

    5

Ca n you substitute buttermilk with anything else?? as I cannot have it...please help

  68. Angie

Is it better to mix with a kitchen aid mixer or by hand?

    1. Chef in Training

I do by hand with a whisk :)

  69. rosemarie johnson

    3

would love to try this have everything except for the buttermilk any subtutions for the buttermilk.

    1. Chef in Training

You can make homemade buttermilk using 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream and 1/2 tablespoon (about 1 and a half teaspoons) lemon juice. I hope that helps :) I just had to do this yesterday when making mine because I didn't have any buttermilk in my fridge either.

  70. Becky

Try replacing the veg oil with coconut oil, it's amazing. Also, my recipe has cinnamon in it and it makes all the difference in flavor.
Try adding 2-3 tsp to this recipe. It will take it over the top.
    Happy baking!!

  71. Merry Field

I use this recipe but I add a topping of brown sugar cinnamon and melted butter. Make into crumbs and sprinkle on top. So good!

  72. Lisa Genest

Hi, I just wanted to point out a spelling error (I can only assume you'll appreciate this!). In you first instruction you have "sprak" instead of 'spray'. Sorry! Thanks!

    1. Chef in Training

oh my goodness! Thanks for bringing this to my attention :) All fixed now.

  73. Edy Drboer

Oh my goodness! This is by far the moistest, most delicious banana bread that I have ever tasted!
I would not change a thing in the recipe, but when out of the oven for half an hour, I made a lemon glaze ( 3/4 cup powded sugar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice.. Slowly pour over bread!, if not wet enough, add -a small amount of milk, a tsp it so.)
    ENJOY !!!

  74. Markie

    5

I came across this recipe awhile ago and I'm so glad I did! I've made it so many times and it really is the best! I had tried a lot of recipes before this one and I've always loved banana bread, but this one is my absolute favorite and the only I use anymore. Just wanted to let you know how much I love it!

  75. Edy Deboet

I have made this delicious banana bread 3 times now and it is the best that I have ever made (or eaten)! I make it exactly as written, and when it has cooled for about 10 minutes, I add a lemon glaze over it. Delicious!!! Glaze - 1 cup powdered sugar, juice of 1 lemon, quarter cup melted butter and 1 Tablespoon milk. Mix till smooth and pour over bread.

  76. Linda

    5

Made this bread tonight and it is delicious. Was out of eggs so used some frozen egg whites I had in the freezer and it still came out great. Will definitely make it again.

  77. Nina

Hello. Does it work with whole wheat flour?
Thank you! It looks amazing, cant wait to try it!

  78. Yolanda

I was really looking forward to trying this recipe and after an hour 15 minutes it was still raw inside and over done on the outside. I did not have buttermilk so I took a cup of whole milk and a tablespoon of vinegar--let it sit for five minutes and then measured 1/3 cup from that. I'm assuming that's what messed it up?

Based on the reviews, I will try it again, but next time buy buttermilk instead of making it myself!

  79. Dorothy Quinones

Really bummed I don’t have a flour sifter at the moment . Is one neccesary right at this moment . Advice appreciated asap .

    1. Chef in Training

no a sifter isn't mandatory it just helps incorporate it better :)

  80. Becca

Can I use sour cream instead of buttermilk? This looks delicious!

  81. Sandy

    5

This is by far the best banana bread that I have had or made. Any type of homemade bread ranks way up there on my list of comfort foods.

  82. Audrey O.

Hi. Do you know why this is labeled (and has a picture of) " The best banana pudding" on pinterest? Your bread sounds delicious, but cirrently I am looking for a banana puddinrecipe that uses buttermilk instead of milk, and it keeps linking to this post.

    1. Chef in Training

That is so weird. I have no idea why. Do you have a link the the pin you can send me so I can check it out and get the person to fix it? Thanks so much!

  83. Rachel

    5

This is "The Best Banana Bread" recipe!
Moist, loaded with banana flavor. I added toasted walnuts because we love nuts in our.
This will be by new go to recipe!

  84. Louise Creasman

Do you use A/P flour for this recipe since you add baking soda!

    1. Chef in Training

      all purpose

  85. Melissa

Do you use self rising or all purpose flour?
I am assuming it's gonna be all purpose since you add salt and soda. Thanks

    1. Chef in Training

      all purpose :)

    2. Sherry

Do you think I could substitute all purpose for self rising flour?

  86. Sharon

    5

I make this banana bread every week for my son, his comment is it is the best. The only thing I change is I substitute 1/2 cup of apple sauce for half a cup of white sugar. Next time I might substitute the vegetable oil for coconut oil.

  87. Kitama

    4

Tried it out....and it's delicious! Very moist and the family loves it! Was just a little bit too sweet , so I'm gonna cut back on the sugar next time...I'm gonna use it for dessert this week! Overall it's a GREAT recipie.

  88. Michelle Service

    5

Best banana bread EVER!!! I've been searching for the perfect recipes for years and my search has ended!! The only change I made was substituting butter for the oil as I don't use hydrogenated oils. It is divine!

  89. Phil

    4

Too sweet for me - distracts from the banana flavor. I will cut white sugar in half next time. Took 75 minutes to cook and that was at 335. Maybe because my pan is 4.5 X 8.5. Added walnuts.

    1. Bonnie

I cut down on both sugars because the ripper the bananas are the more sugar they contain ......

  90. tahnee

    5

Does this recipie have enough batter to make 4 mini loafs? If so, would that change the bake time?

  91. Renee

    5

I've made this bread several times already. Nobody can get enough of it! It's so delicious and truly the best banana bread recipe ever.

  92. Mariane Rinaldo

    5

Can you add chopped walnuts to this reciepe .. Just got our first batch from our Bannana tree can't wait..

  93. Beth S

Absolutely the best banana bread. Next time, I am going to try using whole wheat flour or a combination of whole wheat and white and walnuts

  94. Anne

If I use a bundt pan how much longer will it take in the oven

  95. Marina Sharp

How long for this made into 12 muffins? Same temp?

  96. Gina

    Too much sugar.

  97. Bonnie

    5

I doubled the recipe and made a banana cake. I icined it with a banana flavoured butter cream icing. It was amazing.

The batter was very thin and after 45 min the crust was too dark but a toothpick came out clean. It turned out the center was still liquidity. I should have added an additional 1/4 to 1/2 cup flour. The end tasted yummy but alas the rest was tossed

I love banana bread, with that said. Can I freeze this bread. If so how can I keep it in my freezer? Thank you for sharing your recipe.

We did not care for this bread, there is no flavor to it. We tried it with cream cheese and then switched to cream cheese frosting. no matter what we tried it was sorry to say pretty gross!

THIS RECIPE DOES NOT SAY TO USE A STAND OR HAND MIXER. IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE BY HAND?

Is this recipe supposed to be done by hand? You do not mention using a stand or hand mixed. Cannot wait to try this. Sounds absolutely YUMMY!

I made this today and it turned out great. I used about 1 and 1/2 cups banana because that is what the three bananas that I had measured. I also added cinnamon and pecans. It is delicious. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.

A great recipe and I use it almost weekly.
I replace the oil with coconut oil as apart from a hint of coconut,,its completely tasteless. I also add chocolate chips and halve the amount of sugar.

Looks delish but was definitely still raw in the middle after an hour.... anyone else have this issue? Could be my oven...
    :(

    1. Emily

Yes, mine took one hour 15 minutes at 325 F before the tester came out clean! Worth the wait!

i just made this banana bread. It rose nicely while baking, then.. all of a sudden it sunk. I also had to bake it about 45 minutes longer than the recipe calls for.. Ok so I used frozen bananas which i think make the batter too liquid like. Anyway.. I'm trying again to see what happens.. It smells heavenly. cut it is very dense.. doesn't resemble the picture at all. It is so unbelievably moist! Tastes wonderful

[…] Bread is my jam. I make it weekly and am obsessed with my BEST EVER BANANA BREAD! I have tried a gazillion recipes and trust me on this, you won’t want any other recipe after […]

This seriously is one of the best.... I did however cut white sugar to half cup, used half cup whole wheat flour instead of all white and added 1/2 cup chopped almonds for protein.
    it was perfect!

Looks good, but only one pan? We make our four or five panfuls at a time. We freeze our old bananas in a gallon zip-lock bag, so always have bananas when we want them

This recipe has become my go-to banana bread! I took it to a big family get-together and several people asked for the recipe and I gave them your blog name. Thanks for coming up with this perfect and simple recipe!

I just made your banana bread and having grown up with amazing banana bread I can honestly say this is the best recipe I have ever found. Followed it exactly and it turned out the light and moist and full of flavor. I did add walnuts because I can! Thank you so much I will put this in my keep forever file.

When my daughter has a party at school, she always asks me to make this for her to take....plus an extra for here at home. It is the best! Thanks for sharing.

This is mine my sister and my nieces go to recipe for Bannana Bread. I add chocolate chips and walnuts sometimes. Thanks you for it ?

  132. Jamie

This truly is the best banana bread recipe. I double it, using a Bundt pan to make the baking easy. I also decrease the sugar to about half of what the recipe calls for (3/4 c. for both types on a double batch), and add lots of cinnamon! I like to add walnuts and mini chocolate chips to half the pan. The best!

  133. Jamie

I have made this recipe at least a dozen times and it is, hands down, the best banana bread recipe I have tasted. I double the recipe and use a Bundt pan as my loafs always come out a tad unevenly cooked. I add mini chocolate chips to half of it and cinnamon. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

I tried this recipe because I had ripe bananas and buttermilk. I used a pan that had small molds and I wasn't sure how long to bake them. They turned out great! The inside is soft and moist and the outside edge was crisp and caramelized. I added chocolate chips to some and pecans to some. Delicious!

I am so picky when it comes to banana bread. I have tried several recipes and this is my favorite! If you bake it correctly and follow all her ingredients it really is The Best Banana bread Ever!!! Definitely recommend. My whole family loves this recipe. I got it from my sister and my mom always ask us to make it!

  138. Doug

Walnuts! To each their own of course, but walnuts added to a banana bread make it even better for those that are ok with nuts. My wife has to remind me each time I make it since most recipes don't list them!

This recipe is the ONLY banana bread I like. I recently switched computers and thought I had lost all my bookmarks. I was upset to the point that some coworkers asked what was wrong. They did not understand that I was missing the only banana bread recipe I will use (and the only one I have used for YEARS)! I found it today after some searching and have printed several copies and bookmarked on the new computer. I am SO HAPPY that I am going to make banana bread right now. Thank you for this time-tested, amazing recipe.
