Paula Deen’s Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding is one of my biggest weaknesses. I had my first taste of bread pudding when I tired Kneaders Raspberry Bread Pudding. It was love at first bite. Seriously, if I am going to splurge on calories, just put a plate of that in front of me and watch it disappear within seconds ;-)

This bread pudding is pretty delicious… then again, anything made from Paula Deen is going to be sinfully good. If you are looking for that perfect, decedent treat that will completely knock the socks off of your guests, then this is the recipe you are looking for. It is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the sauce is the perfect and most delectable compliment to this treat.

Paula Deen's Bread Pudding... this is seriously melt-in-your-mouth DELICIOUS! #recipe #dessert

Enjoy!

I recently went a cooking class and we made a bread pudding with chocolate in it and a bourbon sauce on the top--it was literally the most amazing, mouthwatering food I had ever eaten. I can not wait to try yours!!

I love bread pudding! I haven't had it in ages and come to think of it - I think my mom has always been the one to make it for us. I don't think I've made it for myself yet. Oh gosh, I need to change that. I can only imagine how amazing Paula D's version is Nikki!

I'm pretty sure that one cup of brown sugar is supposed to be a half cup.
The first time I made this recipe from Paula Deen's site on Food Network, the bread pudding was perfect and the sauce was overkill. I made it again a couple of days ago, and felt it was way too sweet. Anyway, next time I plan to reduce the granulated sugar to half, too.

Just put this into the oven but wanted to say that I cut back the sugar to 1 cup instead of 2. I tasted it and it was definitely sweet enough. I am foregoing the topping which includes brown sugar as it would be extremely too sweet for our taste. I will definitely make the sauce and will sprinkle pecans over it after it bakes and before I pour the sauce on top. I absolutely love Paula Deen and these changes are not a reflection on her recipe. Just have to cut back my sugar! Thanks!

Stephanie - I am so glad you caught this! I am printing it up to make for Christmas and I just checked Paula Deen's site and you're right - it IS only 1/2 cup. Good eye :-)

      Thanks!

Does any bread work? Because I would think Hawaiian bread would be fine to use.

This is definitely the best bread pudding I have ever tasted. however, I did cut the sugar and butter in half and it was still rich and sweet. This is definitely a keeper!!!

The bread pudding is absolutely delicious and very easy, but in my opinion it is a bit too sweet. I will make it again but I will reduce the sugar in the custard by at least a half cup and will eliminate the brown sugar in the middle. I also used a cup of raisins instead of the nuts. The flavor of the custard and the vanilla sauce are delicious.

I haven't made this bread pudding yet, but I am looking forward to it for a church social meeting. I can't wait until the ladies taste this (so much talked about) bread pudding desert.

I wish I had realized there were three mixes here: the bread egg mix, the crumble, and the sauce. I'm hopeless! I'm sure my recipe will be like candy when it comes out I'm glad I added extra bread.

I made this tonight because bread pudding is my husbands favorite but I have to say this was way to sweet. I wish that I wouldn't have put on the sauce. It really doesn't need it. I ended up scrapping it off. The rest was amzazing.
