Skinny Brownie Batter Dip

Dessert Dips are fantastic. I mean, what girl doesn’t want to dive into a bowl of this Cookie Dough Dip?!

Dips are easy to whip up for company and  they are pretty addictive…. so why not make them a little more guilt free?… And to clarify by “SKINNY” I do not mean “EAT THIS AND BECOME SKINNY”. I mean, it is a “Skinnier” version of something that contains a heck a lot more calories, so when you get a sweet tooth craving, you don’t need to feel as guilty sitting down to a serving of this.

I generally love brownies more than cake, so when I saw this Skinny Funfetti Dip recipe on Six Sisters’ Stuff which came from Eat Yourself Skinny, I knew I could make a few minimal changes to make it chocolate-fied. Eat Yourself Skinny‘s Cake Batter Dip recipe is delicious! I am also a cake batter fanatic and definitely recommend her version too.

For being a reduced fat recipe, this dip pretty dang good. I really enjoyed it and it did kick my chocolate craving to the curb. Granted, its no cream cheese, butter or true brownie batter, but it does the job for those trying to diet. Try it out for yourself!

Skinny Brownie Batter Dip

This is a great way to hit that chocolate craving with a little less guilt
Recipe type: Appetizer
Ingredients
  • 1 (18.4 oz) box Brownie Mix, Dry
  • 2 cups fat free PLAIN yogurt, I have tried it with greek yogurt and it gives it more of a sour flavor
  • 2 cups lite cool whip, thawed
  • mini chocolate chips, optional
Instructions
  1. Combine brownie mix, yogurt and cool whip together in a large bowl. Stir until completely combined. If desired you can stir in some mini chocolate chips as well.
  2. I garnished mine with some mini chocolate chips and served with graham crackers, nilla wafers and teddy grams.

Enjoy!

OMG this is nowhere near guilt free. At all. The crap that's in boxed brownie mix is ridiculous, not to mention light cool whip is purely chemical crap and oil. Easy? Yes. Healthy/skinny? Not really. I'd rather eat the calories than suck down a bunch of fake crap. I would like this recipe a lot more if it had actual ingredients in it instead of processed junk.

    2. Hayley

Hey, you don't need to be so harsh!!!

    3. Jennifer

      Agree Hayley - wow!

I am a huge fan of any sort of dip - but dessert dip takes the cake, obviously. Well, hummus is my #1 favorite ummm.... ever... but for dessert? I'd go for this brownie dip. bonus that it's healthy. Amazing Nikki. and coll whip lite is heavenly - I could (and have) eat it straight out of the container with a spoon.

I have been wanting to try that funfetti dip forever and now I really want to try this chocolate version too! Sounds fabulous.

  3. Heather

I am totally making this. We always have brownie mix on hand. I bet it would be fantastic to dip fruit in- apples, bananas, who knows?

  4. Jess

This looks amazing!! I can't wait to try- thanks for all
    your great recipes!

  5. Shelia

Wow. You know that anything with the word brownie it is going to be good. I'm going to pin this one.

  6. Christy

Made it tonight!! It's in the fridge waiting for me to be ready for my before bed snack... Can't wait!! I'll let you know what I thought about it, but the few tastes I stole during the mixing were really good! :)

  7. Jennifer

OMG! I just made this for a party I am about to head off to, and of course had to try it first. They are lucky that I made it right before I had to leave, because if I had more time, I don't think I would have been able to resist! Thanks!

  8. Jamy

Oh my gosh! I cannot WAIT to make this!

  9. Alisha

Not trying to be a bummer but have you ever looked at the ingredient in BROWNIE MIX! It's filled with bad stuff if you are trying to it healthy! Like fat and SUGAR!

    1. Alisha

*eat healthy not it healthy ;)

  10. Leola

Delicious! I tried to reduce the calories a little more in this recipe by using half a box of mix and a whole 8 oz. container of Cool Whip and it was still delicious! I just got to thinking that the amount of calories in this dip isn't much different than if I just ate a brownie. I'm sure it would have been even better tasting if I had followed the recipe as written, but I always find myself trying to make things a little lighter. Oh well, it was worth a try and a few calories saved. Great for dipping apples too!

Looks delish! I will use this as my next fruit dip!

I Saw A Box Of Reduced Sugar/Reduced Fat Brownies In A Box Mix The Other Day At The Grocery Store...I Think I Will Try This Version Along With SUGAR FREE COOL WHIP For My Diabetic Son!! :)

  13. Tabitha

Made a double batch of this for a dip I had to take to work. It is so delicious and I love that it is "skinny". I set it up with vanilla wafers and it's been a hit! Thanks for sharing.

  14. Xtina

I made this today for a work function and it's very tasty! In future, however, I would use a flavored, sweetened yogurt to take some of the acid bite out. Maybe a coffee or vanilla flavor.

  15. Nicole

This is awesome with broken waffle cones or pizzelles!

  16. Melissa

Just made this tonight. Gotta say that as a HUGE fan of raw brownie batter this was good but I think actually using greek vanilla yogurt would make this better. I guess I should've expected something tangy using plain yogurt but it was a little too tangy for my taste. Thank you for such a great recipe that can be tweaked to personal taste!! Very excited to make this again!

  17. Sarah

This was a big hit at B-B-Q I took it too. I added a brick of cream cheese, only a 1/4 of the brownie mix and about 1 1/2 C of yogurt. I didn't have cool whip so used dream whip instead. Even my husband loved it and doesn't normally eat dessert.

  18. Denise

Made this with a mocha fudge Pillsbury brownie mix., it was delish!!!

  19. Jane

What is the nutritional values to this yummy dip !

  20. Jan

This is great! Tried it for the first time and it was wonderful. Used strawberries, apples and graham crackers for dipping! Mmmmmmm!

  21. jonb

tried it, it's not very good. I used plain lowfat yogurt, not the greek kind. .

I love brownie batter and yogurt by themselves.. mixed together they create a vomitty taste that you can't quite identify.

and it's totally not low-cal... not even close.

I really wanted to like it....

    1. MLT

Same here, jonb. I was pretty disappointed with how yogurt-y it tasted...and not in a good way. Did not go over well at the family 4th of July party. :(

  22. Diane Henrick

I am attending a family cookout tomorrow was asked to make desserts and I am going to make this as one of the three I am bringing! I will rate it tomorrow! I have a feeling the kids will be hovering around this bowl! I will rate this tomorrow!

  23. Kaitlin

just made this and it's soooo good! I am serving with animal crackers, if it lasts until then!

  24. Melanie

Question about this recipe. Could I make it on a Thursday night and serve it on a Saturday night? Or should it be made the day of? Thank you!
