Samoan Coconut Rolls

I am a carb-connoisseur.

Carbs and I have a love-hate relationship.  I love to love on them, but I always down one too many carbs in a single sitting.  I love any kind of carb… simple or complex- it doesn’t matter to me!

One of my favorite ways to enjoy carbs comes in the form of a roll. When rolls are at the dinner table, sometimes I accidentally fill myself up on them before I even get a chance to try the main course. It is a true problem I have.

This recipe comes from GroupRecipes and is so easy, so delicious, so gooey-good… you will literally smile with every bite. When served warm, they literally melt in your mouth. The sauce thickens up as it cools. They are sweet rolls, and could almost be served as a breakfast item. I’d eat them for breakfast, anyway :)

Enjoy!

I'm literally drooling. Look at these rolls! Seriously gorgeous. As a carbaholic to another, I could load up on these dangerously fast before you could even say "main course" haha.

I agree, i have never heard of cream of coconut before either...
but this is what google told me

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coconut_cream

Coconut cream is very similar to coconut milk but contains less water. The difference is mainly consistency. It has a thicker, more paste-like consistency, while coconut milk is generally a liquid. Coconut cream is used as an ingredient in cooking, having a mild non-sweet taste.

Coconut milk is also a main ingredient of coconut cream.

Coconut cream can be made by simmering 1 part shredded coconut with one part water or milk until frothy,[1] then straining the mixture through a cheesecloth, squeezing out as much liquid as possible; this is coconut milk. The coconut milk is refrigerated and allowed to set. Coconut cream is the thick non-liquid part that separates and rises to the top of the coconut milk.

I do a recipe sort of like this with white dinner rolls but I poke holes in them and fill them with jelly and coat them with cinn-sugar and bake for jelly rolls. I love that you simply added coconut and sugar. I bet these are PERFECT!

Hey, I'm right there with you when it comes to loving the carbs!! I would never survive a low-carb diet....I'd go nuts before I lost any weight at all.
I've never heard of Cream of Coconut. Where would I find it in the grocery store? Near something like sweetened condensed milk? Or by the Cream of ____ soups?

Can I buy canned coconut cream anywhere. I looked at my local Wal Mart. Any other places that might have it? I don't want to make it!

For those having a hard time finding cream of coconut, check in the alcohol section near the mixers. People use it to make pina coladas and other blended drinks.

Coconut cream is often found in Asian food stores. I use it in my curry.

    These look dangerously delicious!

**Cream of Coconut is typically located in the drink aisle of your grocery store, usually next to the rose lime juice etc. Hope that helps!

Tastiness. Coconut is amazing! There is a variation of this called Paanipopo (translates as Coconut Rolls) and it is made with rolls (homemade are amazing!), Coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk. You combine the sweetened condensed milk with the coconut milk and pour it over the risen rolls before putting them in the oven. The heat from the oven not only bakes the rolls but it also makes the coconut milk mixture thick and creamy. My lovely Tongan sister-n-law has made that dish very popular in our family.
